Riot Games teasingly dropped a very spicy post meant for the upcoming map of Valorant—Bombsite A—and players’ minds being what they are—are already being lost over how chaotic the layout is supposed to be. The previously-valiant official Valorant account released a shot of the Refinery Center with a support caption: “Fall back and retake the Refinery Center, together.” But gamers? Oh, they’re just about the last people to be falling back as they are now front and center in theories, complaints, and hype.
First up: this map. In this tiny snippet, it looks like a maze of corners, choke points, and maybe a couple of wall-bangable walls. One player, @Perfectwulf, stated, “the whole site looks wall-bangable,” which means there’ll be insane line-ups and spam spots. Some say that the site is “hell to retake,” and honestly? I’m in agreement. If you have struggled to retake Lotus or Haven with all its tight angles, this Clock might very well be your next anti-retake.”
Then, the debate about whether it is even a new map or just a rework. @om_g2703_ swore it looked like Lotus getting some changes, and @YarisulF said it was like “old sunset B plant & spam.” Riot has encouraged map changes for a long time now. So who knows—maybe this is a revamp rather than a brand-new battleground.
But the drama lies in that teaser itself. @We_Get_Along described it as “pointless,” and then @Giovanni_ongko came back with “Bro wants the teasers to be full map reveal 😂💀.” You can’t please everyone, I guess. Meanwhile, @KBergRGB joked about “neon ulting” them all anyway, no matter what the map is… fair.
Then come the wild speculations. @VjCreate1 zoomed into the massive smokes to theorize it might be suggesting a new controller coming in October. (Because yeah, it’s been a minute since Clove.) Others like @nicolasangel_18 are now considering whether the map will introduce mines. Riot’s definitely playing 4D chess, whereas we are just scrambling to keep up.
What about the mini-map placement debate? @omar1972alg pretty much figuratively demanded, “Who the hell has their mini-map on the top right?” Fair question. Maybe it’s Riot trolling us. Or maybe it’s an outright clue. Either way, people are talking.
Then, in stark contrast with mixed feelings, @rohnan01 was there: “This map has a lot of potential.” @marsl0w? Just wants more. Same, brother. Same.
