Can you not hear those VALORANT players sharing their grievance? Last week, ValorINTEL stirred an infamous debate asking players to rank Corrode, Split, Sunset, and Haven from the best to the worst. If you ask me… the answers were far from unanimous.
Beginning with the original ranking in the tweet whereby Corrode was set at number one, then Split, Sunset, and Haven, the responses started flooding in with opposing opinions. In fact, some people were almost offended by the initial ranking, while others truly stood against and advocated for their map.
Haven gained quite a bit of popularity with all those looking at it as the only map in VALORANT with three bomb sites. A couple of users placed it at the very top of their list, calling it the “OG” map with balanced gameplay. One user, @Javeriaa78, announced, “Haven is on top,” while @XBorgHQ escalated further by stating that anything without Haven in #1 is “just wrong.”
Now, that did not sit well among everyone. A few users, like @Sokrannn, placed Sunset above Haven, arguing that Split was just terrible. Also, @ChubbyDaMilkman was willing to accept swapping Corrode and Split in their ranking.
And the map Corrode, being the freshest addition into the map pool, was also the most controversial one. @GH0STfps_ was amongst those arguing that the map is so “mega overhated,” claiming that people just don’t like it because they refuse to learn how to play it correctly. Others went “full vomit” with an emoji next to it with their ranking such as @erspectelijah.
Differences of opinion were also split-wise. Some, such as @OvikDeb, had that map as their #1, while others, such as @ltsCamo, put it at the bottom, calling it “10 layers of dogshit.”
And then came the ultra-chaotic reactions. With some brilliance, @woofgee managed to dismiss rankings altogether and dubbed all four maps as different flavors of “dogshit.” In another corner, @daaaaaaaaaamien and @Sokrannn probably had the funnest side conversation in French, clowning around talking about boosting winrates and questioning each other’s sanity on the original rank list.
So are you curious for yet another consensus? There is none. Remember those legendary clashes VALORANT players have had over opinions on which map stands on top? Well, Riot Games must feel truly lucky if they ever salvage any feedback on map design from this massive community.
Whether you hate Corrode or love it, swear by Haven, or consider Split worthy of rework, one thing is certain: VALORANT map arguments could go on forever. Now pardon us while we get to the bottom of why Sunset is so polarizing.
