Riot Games promised to modify the Valorant ranked rewards, and the players have already begun to share their ideas through social networks. The list of the community’s demands has grown tremendously, ranging from the gun skins and Radianite Points to animated player cards and matchmaking fixes. With their wishes, the players’ discontent with the current rankings and rewards system is clearly visible.

It all starts with the tweet from Riot. Just one simple question: ‘We understand that Riot has made the promised changes to the Ranked Rewards. What would you like them to do?’ The Valorant community exploded with an answer— or rather a hundred answers. It’s one of those cases that you just have to sit back and let the flood come. For quite a while now, players have been expressing their dissatisfaction with the ranked gun buddies. Now it seems that all the characters in the game and their duelists have something to say about the next thing.

The feedback shows an amazing mix of thoughtful recommendations, hilarious demands, and completely sincere gamer irritation. It’s all there. Let’s take a deeper look at it because it is much more than just a little charm for your gun.

Skins are the most sought-after item as everyone would expect. It is probably the item that the most people would love to receive anyway. So, the players want to stop showing off their buddies and instead have their guns decorated in a way that is, you know, actually showing their rank. User ‘7mace_’ was pretty blunt: ‘Gun skin for evry rank.’ Others like ‘rayieee_e’ came up with the concept of ‘a battlepass skin with kill effect.’ Another user ‘daivisp’ looked like he had a whole plan; ‘copy the reward of league of legends and TFT, a skin of a weapon with base color and the paint of ur ranked.’ That is a very smart thought— a skin that you can attain in various levels depending on the rank you have achieved. It has been a hit in League, why not do that here?

Then there is the group of players who say no, and instead of debating about skins, they would rather be given something useful by the team. ‘shintalkk’ cried: ‘RADIANITE AT LEASTTT.’ To be honest? That’s a mood. Of all the in-game currencies, Radianite is the one that players have to spend on upgrading those gorgeous skins, and it is also the one that is very difficult to get unless the player pays. So, it would be a big thing for players trying to climb the ranks if the game decided to reward them with some of that as a bonus for being ranked. ‘DRKSTEEL17’ was even more clearer: ‘Fck that give us vp lmao.’ VP stands for Valorant Points, which are the premium currency. That is likely a wishful thinking but it does reflect what players consider as valuable.

Some players want the game to be more showy and less rewarding. The user profile ‘Azaleane_’ was very disappointed: ‘Borderframes, Titles, Banners…nobody cares about gunbuddies.’ ‘Twitch_Cero0305’ wanted to make the request more specific, saying “LET’S GET RANKED BUDDIES FOR EVERY RANK WE HIT THAT EPISODE.” As of now, you only receive a buddy corresponding to your highest rank. Getting a buddy for every tier you have climbed would be a nice way of showcasing the journey, not just the destination. ‘KodaWodaa04’ pictured an animated ‘wingman flex’ that changes color with your rank and has different animations. That’s quite posh!

But hold your horses, there’s more. Some comments outright ignored the rewards issue and went straight to whining about the game itself. This is one of the classic gamer tactics. ‘siclaropero’ said: ‘I want them to fix the damned matchmaking and MMR BS.’ ‘SpectRx021’ had two complaints; ‘fix smurfing without the MFA thing’ and ‘To stop nerfing all the agents and changing them.’ And ‘555rrrlll’ just went ahead and asked them to ‘make the game fun.’ I guess we cannot really disagree with that kind of reasoning.

And, of course, there would not be a Twitter thread without an element of total chaos. ‘RIPwashed’ made the internet laugh with: ‘underwear with my episode rank on them.’ Sir, please, we are attempting to have a serious conversation here about virtual cosmetics. But also… where can I buy them?

The thread even had a bit of a drama to it. Some users were disputing how many rank resets a player is entitled to, and ‘Relority’ and ‘aveiours’ were debating back and forth trying to determine whether it is 1 or 5. This is the kind of niche, inside-baseball argument that gamers on platforms like PlayStation and Xbox love to have.
