So Riot Games officially released Patch 11.00 for VALORANT, and the Waylay changes have had… well, shall we say… mixed reactions within the community. ValorantUpdated retweeted the announcement with the adjustments, but the replies? The replies were something else.

The patch notes had really put in a lot of effort into the fixes on Waylay’s abilities to maybe make it a viable choice on the competitive side of play. Of course, with how players are suspicious of any motives these days, Arosu immediately declared the character kit “dogshit”: there is simply no reason to choose Waylay over Jett and Neon. Ouch. StarBoy came back to further thrash the poor agent, calling it “literal trash” and “copy-paste” from the two duelists.

From there, it went downhill even further: Additional replies weren’t even really related to gameplay. Comments started describing Waylay’s design that were along the lines of “Wtf is that creature” and “Holy jumpscare I just woke up” drowning out the thread. Celestial Dragon ventured into the realm of human, telling everyone to “Get this man off my screen,” while Jeremy82733 had to admit that they shut down the video after seeing the agent.

These are the interesting takes: User J3ST3R wrote: “Looks like mommy, smells like daddy… I’m so confused,” which, yeah, that’s a sentence that now exists in the world. Meanwhile, UgoLePatriote chimed in with a comment in French which, roughly translated, is something like “I don’t care if they’re trans, as long as they buff Waylay = big brain move.” So that happened.

This was noticed, of course, with some condemning the toxicities: Kms_Yukimaru bluntly stated, “Yall transphobes are disgusting,” while Kotiboy123 lamented, “Maybe being a good person is harder than I thought.” Hostilegluegun scoffed at the weirdness with: “These comments are so fucking weird.”

But gameplay? That still will be determined. Some, like hafidhadhiet, feel the buff could flip the meta entirely or it does nothing at all- absolutely nothing in between. In lighter news, arwaskito noted that Waylay better get an instant teleport ability like Yoru’s. One thing is certain though: with such a great divide of opinions, Riot still has some work to do if they want Waylay to be anything other than a meme.

So Patch 11.00 is out there, and whether you like it or you hate it or you want to scream into the void about it, VALORANT players are definitely making some noise around this. Perhaps Riot needs to put a jumpscare warning next time. Just saying.

Meanwhile, if you want to really get down into the changes, head on over to the official patch notes. Do yourself a favor, though, and get bracing for all the replies. Trust me on this one.
