For all you skateboarding enthusiasts out there, PlayStation surely just dropped a bomb on us. A perfect kickflip almost would have done so, you know. The feature of the legendary park creator mode is being resurrected. Players can actually build their own crazy skate park: I repeat, can or will. The populace is losing it.
The PlayStation tweet teasing this feature was, “Shape the skate park of your dreams in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4,” and from there, the nostalgia train started speeding in one direction. Players flooded the replies with childhood memories and quite wild requests (we will get back to that).
First, let’s just get at why this really matters. The real THPS games were not just about making insane combos-they were about imagination. Therefore, the park editor was made suitable for this; it allowed the player to create their very own ramps, rails, and death-defying drop-offs. Now, the remastered versions of 3 and 4 do, in fact, bring it back from the grave. For a few players, this is not mere game mechanics-it’s therapy.
Player @yunuykissesxo even joked: “I shaped my ex’s face in that game once and honestly it was more therapeutic than therapy.” So true! Meanwhile, @Soulbound_TV came along with, “Tony Hawk’s games raised me better than school did.” I feel that.
And those are just the nostalgia stories. Now the real demands are coming from gamers themselves. @NebRanger straight away asked, “Can we add gaps again like we could in the original games?” And that is a fair question. That gap system was huge-finding hidden gaps in levels was like discovering secret achievements before achievements were even a thing.”
Hence the great platform debate began: “@Luffygearmonger (and really, what an absolutely chaotic name) exclaimed, “TONY HAWK PRO SKATER 3+4 ONLINE PS5 – PAID. PC – FREE. WHY?” To which, yes, valid point. But also, let’s face it-console players are accustomed to paying for online. That’s about as ridiculous a complaint as saying the sky is blue.”
Then chaos ensued: @gamedofficial_ came back with probably the most random response of them all: “Wen Hawk Tuah Girl skating game?” Bruh. What? For a bit of context to the chronically offline, “Hawk Tuah Girl” is a meme courtesy of a viral street interview. So yeah, this is the level that we find ourselves at. The internet remains undefeated.
Away from memes and nostalgia, this is a major moment for the THPS population. Remasters I and II were all right, but III and IV? Those are the ones that really fast-forwarded the series-a revival of reverts, spine transfers, and, of course, the park editor. Bringing all of that back in HD is a powerful punch.
Oh yeah, and in case you don’t have “Ace of Spades” or “When Worlds Collide” on your soundtrack list, well, we demand to riot.
Hence, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 is shaping up to be a massive win for the franchise. This is one remaster worthy of attention, whether you’re here for nostalgia, for creativity, or just to see if you can still land a 900. Okay, so while we wait, we are definitely putting Goldfinger on repeat.
