Alright, gamers, strap in for this dose of nostalgia, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 style. There is an disappointment cast over the usual momentum when Nintendo announced that the Digital Deluxe Edition of these legendary skateboarding games has early access available on Nintendo Switch 2. Did I really just say Early Access? This gigantic FOMO is reinforcing itself.
Now what? Will you just buy the Digital Deluxe Edition and start skating the feels of memories *right this instant* whilst disregarding the whole ‘Corey Project’ buzz? Nintendo America tweeted about the release plastered with skateboard emojis and a link to grab a copy. As in the online manner, reactions went…well, mixedopinions.
Before anything else, I’m saying,”time for the hype.” There were gamers who had a full on embrace for this one. Alqasmi8940 shouted on Twitter: “No way I’m missing this! Time to hit those classic parks and land some combos — let’s shred!” More positive comments came pouring in,a few from Gre3n_Cat: “Nostalgia and epic tricks? Count me in!”
Then arose the doubt. And boy, was it a blindside. PancakeBowl countered: “FOMO? It’s digital only. I’ll wait until it’s half price.” While Targa ramped up the roasting with: “Not buying this. It’s a code in a box. Not even a key card 😂.” Boom.
Then there is that entire *Where’s the Direct?* crowd. Infinite10archy swiftly summed up everything with: *”no direct\ngo home.”* Classic. We can’t forget about 3D All-Stars, either. Sans stung hard: *”Ironic Nintendo talking about fomo 5 years after the 3D all star.”*
Some performance doubts were discussed, with GamesCage_ and alqasmi8940 wondering if the game really ran at 60fps on the Switch 2. RichHumble678 coming to the rescue with: *”Yes but not locked at 60fps.”* So maybe keep your expectations tempered.
Some real fans were shouting, like Nick Evanovich simply saying, *”Please re-release Tony Hawk Underground 1 & 2.”* We feel you, Nick. We *all* feel you.
Now, whatever these people may or may not have doubts about, this one thing is for sure: Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 is making waves on the Switch 2. Early access is out; nostalgia exists; and the Internet is… well, just the Internet. So if you are down to relive those old-school skater glory days, well, here goes nothing. But do not hold us responsible when you see your watch bounce between three and five hours trying to land the perfect combo.
Or, if you’re still wavering, just wait for a sale. Or better yet, maybe don’t. The virtual skatepark is already open.
