Adventure awaits, and along the way-are some bargains on offer! The Pro-Tomb Raider Twitter profile announced that the franchise Summer Sale was offering discounts of up to 85 percent on select titles. The sale is open to Xbox users until June 24, whilst Steam sales will start on June 26 and end on July 10. PlayStation now has time till July 2 to pick theirs up. No sale steep enough could allay the calling of gamer’s queries in that response section asking: “But where is the new Tomb Raider game?”
After the tweet–with a slick promo image of Lara Croft in action–there was an immediate explosion in reply density. Discount discussions had commenced but were soon interrupted by demands for updates. A somewhat disgruntled fan wrote, “Please share news on the next game! It has been years with zero information.” Others responded, “Adventure is calling for a new game,” whilst one even asked, “Where is the new Tomb Raider? There is still nothing, not even a teaser? πππ”
Exclusive!- Fair. There hasn’t been a mainstream Tomb Raider game since Shadow of the Tomb Raider came out in 2018. Silence then filled the gap for what comes next for Lara. Some fans would like to insinuate that this sudden sales uptick is an actual signal-“a lot of TR sale this month… are you guys teasing something or am I going crazy? π”, but until now, no announcement.
The best chance to catch up on the series seems to be the sale. The Survival Trilogy (Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider) is an essential purchase for anyone new to the franchise, with the classics up for grabs for die-hard fans of the originals, at least on the remasters. On the contrary, one reply even said remasters for the original Tomb Raider 1-3 are free right now for Amazon Prime subscribers-with no excuse for you to just get started!’
And now with that, the whole conversation turns toward Switch ports and remasters. Many replies called for a Nintendo Switch 2 release (“Hoping for switch 2 release eventually loveeeee tomb raider so much”), while others clamored for remasters of Shadow or even PS2-era games like Anniversary and Underworld. Another player threw their voice into the conversation saying, “Can y’all put tr 4-6 on sale I already own every other game,” however, indicating while everything is being discounted there is at least one person wishing for more.
And that is Rise of the Tomb Raider talk: One person admitted they’re replaying it “to figure out why IGN gave it a 9/10. I remember not liking it back when I played it.” Another one of the participants said, “Replaying Rise rn actually, such an incredible game!!” So maybe it’s time?
Saturday afternoon-type comedy: No new game has in fact been announced-audiophiles are getting restless-and yet it feels like Crystal Dynamics are preparing for a big reveal or at least trying to sustain the franchise on the side while they do. In any case, these games are a definite buy if you for some reason haven’t grabbed them already. Do not expect any answers about the next Lara outing though.
Well, good sale. The gamer? Ready for the new. Until then, they are stuck replaying the classics, begging for remasters, and eyeing every sale mentioned as a secret clue. Classic Tomb Raider fans, never satisfied and always loyal.
