Okay, Tomb Raider fans, hold on—Patch 1 for *Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered* is set to launch on April 18. It was just confirmed via the official Tomb Raider Twitter page; the details are still somewhat scant at the time of writing, though the air is thick with some excitement. No patch notes yet, but at least we eventually got a date.
The first major update for the remastered trilogy is finally for those who have been celebrating Lara’s classic adventures since launch. To be honest, few things could still use polishing. Bug fixes, performance adjustments, or surprise QoL changes… Let’s see.
Short and sweet, with “hey heads on those notifications so you don’t miss the drop” from @tombraider. No flashy trailers, no huge exposé on the changes—just a short and sweet reminder that it’s coming. Aspyr’s classic lay-low-the-radar sales tactics are always stealthy and never flashy.
Guess what: all zeros in replies. Nothing. Zilch. Such a flop for such a hardcore fanbase, really. When you at least want someone to shout about tank controls or throw in a photo mode, silence, right? Maybe they are just too busy playing The Last Revelation and then replaying it. Or perhaps the fandom is just…patient? Nah, can’t be that.
But what *can* come in this patch? Optimistically, perhaps some camera work on those awkward angles, slight touch-ups on textures that missed their remastered sheen.
Maybe they’ll even follow that with some more tweaking for modern controls in respect of purists who still swear by the old-school scheme. Or, hey, how about a surprise or two in the form of unlockable outfits? Dream away.
Words mean that Aspyr has been great with their remasters till date-so, there should be no reason to think otherwise. And for those who are doubting whether to buy these classics or not, a silvered-up edition might just be the final push.
So, April 18. Note the date, set your alarms, turn on those post notifs, and stay alert. Minor fixes or some big issues are lined up in order to make Lara’s travels all that more enjoyable. Now excuse me while I try once again not to fall into another spike pit in Chronicles.
