Agents, dust off your gear, because Division 2 seems to imply something extraordinarily big will soon unfold. The official Twitter account just dropped a peculiar message: “Guess who’s back, ready to take a dip in the stretch goals pool. Be ready on the 19th, Agents.” One might consider it pure agony, building so much hype with no concrete wine to sip on. Rallying for Division 3 thus brings on a mixed bag of excitement, frustration, and demands typical for any Ubisoft game.
What is really going on? Well, stretch goals are quite often correlated with community milestones: new content, rewards, or features long requested by the community. But with Division 2 split between those who swear by it and those who definitely have moved on, the reaction is… mixed. A certain crowd is tremendously excited, while the other side is more on the skeptic. Some of that crowd actually want crossplay or snow in Washington (seriously, what’s going on without snow?).
One player just had enough: “@darkzone_RO: The game is almost dead, running on life support.” Hard-hitting indeed. And technically it probably is; trying to find a match is horrendous, servers are empty for most of the day, and, oh, let’s talk about jobs still out there. Meanwhile, @jonapublic wants that crossplay and snow because if they do not get it, the game “won’t live two more years.”
That is when the fashion war takes over. @LusFialho2 does not want to see Recruiter anymore and will settle for Black Yeong-Ja and Spring Yeong-Ja. Priorities, people! Then there is @BeatzCreations, who is already predicting nerfs because, well, that’s Ubisoft.
But it is not all gloom here. @panicmario_ just hopes to farm Stretch Goals forever, while @Spudly1980 keeps suffering silently from the loss of Kelso. Emotional scars there.
What is actually happening the 19th? It is a big question. Could be new gear, surprise DLC, or just another exotic to be thrown into a box. But one thing is clear; if Ubisoft ever intends to keep players from dropping, fresh stuff must be on the table.
And for the love of God, can we get some snow already?
Bottom line: The Division 2 is teasing something, and whether it’s a last hurrah or a new beginning, we’ll know very soon. So agents, for now, stay frosty. Or, y’know, not, ’cause it’s still summer in D.C., for some reason.
