BioWare fans want to return to the Mass Effect galaxy.

That has been true for many years. However, a buggy and poorly received rollout for the series’ new offshoot, Mass Effect Andromeda, seemed to stop any and all talk of a new Mass Effect in its tracks several years ago.

Now, the hopes and dreams of the fanbase seem to be focused backward, with the rumor that a remastered version of the original Mass Effect trilogy might be coming to modern consoles sometime in the near future.

Mass Effect has never experienced a remastered re-release. However, it would make sense given the popularity of the game and its iconic cast of characters.

Rumors swirled earlier this year that a remastered re-release was coming. A number of leaks and rumors from reputable insiders, coupled with some nuggets dropped by BioWare itself have led many to believe that these games will be coming back in a big way.

However, we have received no official word, despite EA having a prime opportunity to make the announcement at its recent online press conference.

A newly announced addition to the Mass Effect trilogy art book has rekindled the rumors surrounding the potential for a return to the Normandy.

The original art book is being expanded upon with 100 new pages.

“Experience the evolution of the aliens, planets, ships, and technology that define this iconic science fiction universe,” the book’s description says,” as the developers who brought BioWare’s masterpiece to life take you from the earliest design sketches through to the meticulous final renders.”

The expanded book is slated for a release in February of 2021. Recent rumors have stated that the remastered Mass Effect Trilogy would be hitting shelves sometime before April 2021, so it is possible that the re-release of the games and book could coincide.

BioWare tends to hold back on announcements regarding Mass Effect for one specific day of the year. November 7 has become known in the Mass Effect fandom as N7 Day. N7 is the elite soldier rank held by Commander Shepard, the main character from the original trilogy.

N7 Day has become the day where major announcements concerning the future of Mass Effect are made. Some years, N7 Day has nothing more than a new piece of concept art and a tweet, but major announcements and trailer releases have been known to pop up around that time.

While the remastered Mass Effect trilogy remains only a rumor, it will be interesting to see what happens in the coming months.
