Alright, hold on guys because it is really happening: SUPERVIVE has dropped a bomb, and new hunter Mercury is storming into the limelight-with real hype now! The devs themselves apparently teased her arrival on Twitter in cryptic hints, with details supposed to be revealed on August 19, while players are going bonkers about her design and respective weapons and whether this hunter will finally nail the meta, just like some past characters (cough Tetra and Wukong cough).
On the aesthetic side, entry-level players just went bonkers over that witch’s hat of Mercury. Some said it could be a reference to Rabadon’s Deathcap (League folks, are you paying attention??). That lantern mace? Andrew is already picturing the glorious smacking of the enemies around with that mace at full power. The outfit is giving some “Gooner” vibes (whatever that means, are Lokibo’s words, not mine), and truth be told, I’m here for it.
Now, the big question is: WHAT CAN SHE DO? Elliot is vibrating with impatience, Azulen is screaming about grenade launchers like she just won the lottery, Zwoogy is begging for more frontliners, and Capitannick is demanding a werewolf hunter, as if it’s Halloween already. Such beautiful chaos.
Speaking of dates, Zyfeon kept clowning the devs about the confusion of 08/19 versus 09/19 (time zones, amirite?), but SUPERVIVE is just like “🤫 you saw nothing.” Classic.
Now, some are just not pleased: Kegan is side-eyeing the forge mechanic hard, saying it’s the reason why they don’t play actual more; meanwhile, YndY is praying that Mercury won’t turn into yet another meta-defining nightmare. But really, when has a new hunter not shaken things up?
That excitement is in the air, and FulgurGaming said it best: The devs love this game, and the players just love getting that love showered upon them. August 19 cannot come soon enough- whether you are in it for the fashion, lore, or just for the sheer chaos this Hunter is surely going to bring, one thing is clear: The breach won’t know what hit it.
So, put that day on your calendar; set the alarms as well, and, negotiate a little with your ego to hard-try-dodging practice. I have a feeling Mercury is going to be a problem.
