Pyre is a game with a brilliant story wrapped in excellent writing, with an average sports game tacked on.

Since Electronic Arts opened Origin Access’ doors to game publishers, a number of solid games have been enlisting with them. This actually gave players and fans access to their game vault of 180 games playable for only $30 per year.

The latest addition to their game vault is Pyre, a 2017 RPG game from Supergiant Games. Though this game was launched two years ago, fans still find this game worth playing.

Pyre is a three on three one-dimensional ball game with memorable characters and superb writing. This is one of Supergiant’s claim to fame, in addition to Bastion.

Aside from Pyre, other game additions to Origin include Chaos of Deponia and Star Wars Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast. Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2 was also recently added. Just last month, Electronic Arts also added about five Star Wars games.

A basic subscription on Origin Access gives players around 10-hour trial of their seven most recent games. These recent games include They Are Billions and Anthem. Their premier access only costs around $100 or /£90 per year. The latter subscription gives players full access to the extra games on the platform.

Pyre players get to play the role of a faceless, nameless character only known as the Reader. The Reader has been exiled from his Commonwealth home where a ban on literacy was imposed. He now starts his journey by joining a growing band of travelers only known as Nightwings.

Together, they will journey through the purgatorial and dangerous land of the Downside. The Reader has to preside over a sacred rite that might help the Nightwings win their freedom.

It is during the execution of these sacred rites that the game’s singular mechanics are revealed. These rates are, in themselves, a fierce battle between two teams comprised of 3 players. Each of the teams will be vying for a chance to come to Commonwealth, with their crimes already forgiven.

These teams are also strategically placed on each opposite sides of the map, with their titular pyre flame. A ball of energy emerges in the middle of the map.

The goal of each team is to grab the energy ball and plunge it into their pyre. Each team has to keep doing this until the rival team’s pyre gets fully doused.

The storyline is really quite interesting. No wonder many fans have been hooked to the game. Now, with the game’s entry into the Origin Access game vault, they’ll surely have more reasons to play with Pyre.
