Capcom has unveiled some flashy new attire for Street Fighter 6 that will leave the story fans really excited. The official Street Fighter twitter account has been so generous to Amanda, linking her along with the ‘Giant Attack’ event through a tweet of her Akuma-themed ‘Outfit 2 EX Color’ and giving the caption ‘Friends 4 Lyfe! ❤️’. With the tweet, showing Elena in the most devilish way with her red eyes and black apparel, the whole community is talking, arguing, and at the same time, asking for other things. It is nothing but pure and unfiltered FGC chaos and we, being a part of it, are getting excited.

In case players have not heard the news from the game, the Giant Attack event is prevailing in the world of Street Fighter 6. The return of the event will feature the special color of Elena’s second outfit that allows her to be associated with Akuma, the Master of the Fist. It will also be a reference to the reflection of their unlikelihood as friends during the SF4 era. However, players need to fight a maxed-out Akuma in the Battle Hub to claim that color. That is the short version of the news but let’s talk about the reactions which are rather chaotic but still beautiful step by step.

The collaboration gained a lot of popularity among users from the very beginning. MysterSack, for example, could not hide his amazement, saying ‘Those eyes! Whoo, ElenabouttamakeaNAMEforherselfhere!’ and he was right about the vibe. The red sclera—the dark red part of the eyes—marks the presence of Akuma and thus the fact that he is on the normally cheerful healer Elena communicates a rather strange vibe, to say the least. One other user, Red_LineOne, was excited about it and pointed out ‘I didn’t realize the eyes were red too! 🔥🔥🔥’. A detail like that definitely helps the whole concept to sink in.

Not everyone, however, agrees with the concept entirely. A few people say that the look is something… different. GeorgeSmithEC9 wrote, ‘I feel like she smiles too much for that look.’ and that is a valid point, Elena’s eternal smile with devilish eyes is somewhat disturbing but also unsettling in a fun way. Quasimodox replied to another user, saying ‘this version of Elena creeps me out though. 😆’. So it is a successful creepy-cool skin, after all. The most specific critique was from kumametal who tweeted, ‘If it didn’t have the dark sclera it would be absolutely perfect.’ That’s the thing with Akuma referencing—you have to really go for it! The dark sclera is the reference.

As the debate moves on from one side to the other, there is a little conversation regarding Elena not at all. The replies serve as an excellent masterclass for the FGC. One announcement related to a cosmetic item creates all sorts of town-square talking about the other characters and their demands. The most frequent calling? Desperate players wishing for the other Akuma EX color—the one for his SiRN outfit—to be available once more. Nondelo Ndlovu, _Ononokii, and Overhaul89 are among such users who begged Capcom to make it available, perhaps, in the shop. Ancientblade12 was more straightforward: ‘I’m really disappointed that you can’t get Akuma’s EX01 as a prior and unlovable reward, this is cool but I just wanted Akuma’s since I missed out on it. So lame.’

The classic FOMO dilemma, man. You miss out on one event and then you are left with no chance for a color you want so badly. It’s painful! The others, taking advantage of the moment, requested completely different things. For example, jungleboypt1 is asking for Dark Sakura to come back. SatsuGoku and Aspyre_FGC are just waiting for the news about balance patches, with Aspyre_FGC even sharing a meme about waiting. And Rui Costa offered all-mega-Expectations for Alex in his essay wishing SF6’s version would finally be awesome. These priorities are a rollercoaster of laughter because they are all over the place.

Another important factor in this whole situation is the Battle Hub. The event is restricted to gameplay conducted in the Hub, which is the online lobby of SF6 where players get social. This led to a small argument in the replies. Feersided said, ‘You definitely forced me to play battle hub but thanks for the color 🙏’. Gex and PanqueNhoc stepped in quickly with ‘Battle hub is sick tho’ and ‘Battle hub is fun wym’. That’s how it is. Some players are always in the Hub, while others prefer to rank up and then quit. Even if it annoys some, the event is a major part of the PlayStation and Xbox ecosystems where these fighting games thrive.
