Recently, Capcom gave us a brand new look at C. Viper‘s Street Fighter 6 reveal. I mean, she is a straight up mood to be with. Reference was made to her new “Game Face” feature, and the official Street Fighter account tweeted a teaser with the lines, “Where you go, she goes. What you see, she sees.” I swear to God, the comments section is a thrilling roller coaster ride mixed with hype, nostalgia, and some pretty spicy takes.

Anyway, she’s confirmed as a Year 3 pass DLC with all of her spy-tech gadgetry. “Game Face,” apparently new to the character, is an ability allowing her to change or adapt her looks mid-fight-an evolution much appreciated for a character who has always been about gadgets and deception. She can assume any emotion, any identity, and any time-the player base is here for it forever.

Let’s begin with the replies because most of the real tea must be found there. The reaction to Viper was overwhelming. A player going by the name Blvck Oshun simply said she is a “baddie”; true. Capo_eirista added, “man, she’s so dope. well done 🤝🏾,” pretty much labeling the general consensus. Surely C. Viper has a loyal fanbase that has been awaiting her return ever since she first hit the scene in Street Fighter IV in 2008. TakiOneLove even claimed, “She was, actually, the main reason I got in Street Fighter.” Now, that is an impact.

And there were definitely some that weren’t compliments. There is always wavering, right? “Not gonna lie, her fighting stance is bit… weird to me,” said dauntenitro. Tenkovito was positive yet critical: “i really really loved this c. viper, faithful to her origins I just hate that idle stance, it’s so bad 😞.” So even in the hype, there are some good and bad little details noticed by these players-that is what makes the FGC so passionate, you know? They care about this stuff.

As for the demands, the party has only begun. Big costume demands are already being made; they’re begging for her Marvel vs. Capcom 3 superhero costume, and then another user posted a few outfit ideas with the plea, “Now give her these costumes, please! 🙏🏿.” And on the music front, JaydenG34911 insists, “You better release her theme tomorrow or else.” The hype is constant.

While lately, the show has been centered around their Viper-like new Star. TheRealAwest followed up, “C.Viper is a great addition but This is the worst SF roster ever. I hope the next 4 characters y’all add are worth playing the game again,” Oof, a little harsh, but that’s expressing that all some see as being able to make the cool one character worthwhile are bigger issues of their own in the game lineup.

Boom! Now, you’re into which next character speculation. JoshuaSegovia19 starts the full-on tangent on “who’s returning next in Street Fighter V: Vega, Balrog, Urien, etc.” RVannison puts up his campaign for Laura to return in season 4. Basically a wishlist factory in those replies. Lovely_night20 even throws a shout to Q, from the good old days. It is interesting how just a single character reveal gets everybody buzzing about the one coming next.

One really funny and smart comment was that garygametime imagined her glasses displaying frame data with an AI co-pilot typing out this advice: “He’s minus on block. I suggest a Seismic Hammer.” That’s such a modern spin on a tech character and shows that really fast the players started integrating her into the meta.

Some are debating, classic style. Shadow_Mariko gave it as simple as it can get: “Classic is still better,” presumably referring to her OG Street Fighter IV look over the new one. There’s nothing more Classic Gamer than Rn’G’ing for the first iteration of a character you fell in love with. Then another person almost started a mini conspiracy because they thought her hairstyle was inspired by a K-pop group. Well… sure, why not? The internet is a strange place.

It does bring up a practical issue, though, as LPickle5 points out that killer Game Face is likely to be locked to offline: “it sucks most players won’t see this since it’s locked to offline mode. bring this online mode and character select/stage select.” Legit concern. If a character’s signature flair is only visible when you’re trying to beat the CPU, feels like the biggest lost chance to show off online. The game is available on PlayStation and Xbox.
