Almost everything about content creation has uniformly disturbed with the recent announcement of the Creator Portal by Square Enix. This newly made portal, right from where streamers, YouTubers, and assorted digital artists can get in touch with the giant, has just become a hub of content. The announcement was made through their official Twitter, which included a promo image so cool that it screamed, “come join us.” Honestly? It was about time.
For years, the creators grinded through unrecognized by the big studios, especially while going through games like Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, or even NieR. Square Enix seems to be now rolling the red carpet and inviting everyone with a knack for their games to come forward and identify themselves. According to the website of the portal, it will help creators to actually share some of their creations, interests, and then hopefully score some collabs or maybe even early access here and there.
What’s the catch? Not yet. The portal has very vague details, but with Square Enix doing this, things seem to be on the verge of change. Big publishers now realize that creators are free marketing and literally the heart and blood of gaming culture. Twitch streamers, TikTok editors, fan artists, podcasters- if you’ve got a voice, Square Enix wants to hear it.
With the Final Fantasy XVI hype still smoldering underfoot and Kingdom Hearts IV rumors lurking just beyond the horizon, it feels somewhat fitting that Square is donning its content bombardment gear. To even fantasize about getting special game access or exclusive interviews simply for signing up- now that would be something.
But again, the burning question emerges! Would this benefit smaller ones, or is it just another corporate funnel? Time will tell. But for now, an opportunity does knock. If one ever wished to crack into a collaboration with Square Enix or even just grab some cool stuff, your shot is HERE.
It’s insane that the tweet has no replies yet. You would expect a wave of excitement or skepticism to wash over the comments. Or maybe everyone was too busy registering or just putting together their thoughts. Regardless, it’s a bold approach that could very well shift the game of engagement for Square Enix and its fan.
So go ahead creators; what are you still hanging around for? Check the portal out! This might just become something huge. At the very least, it’d be an excellent way to show off your fandom. Either way, win-win.
And while you’re at it, how about dropping that FFXVI release date?
