It’s rare that a game series receives as much hype and praise as Borderlands. The smart humor, the interesting visuals, and the never-ending loot are what keep gamers coming back for more. Borderlands 3 has already been confirmed, with new details emerging every week it seems.

We finally have some game footage to sink our teeth into, and there are a lot of great nuggets to unpack in the incredible 105 minutes that are shown. The video features one of the Vault Hunters, Amara. She’s part of the Siren class and is featured with a lot of interesting weapons.

That’s one thing you can rest assured a Borderlands game will have: epic guns with a lot of variety. This third installment is said to have billions of them. That’s great news if you enjoy the constant chase of capturing the perfect gun. Your grind usually always pays off too, as the guns higher up tend to inflict way more damage. We see Amara travel through some interesting environments.

Two of particular note are the outskirts of Meridian and the Meridian Complex itself. These environments have cyberpunk written all over them. Their neon lights capture your attention as Amara navigates through the futuristic areas. We also learn a little about the vehicles you’ll be driving in Borderlands 3. They have the same feel as the ones in the sequel. The driving mechanics are extremely user-friendly.

There are more ways to customize the available vehicles as well. Throughout the footage, Amara is shown looting after she takes down various enemies. This is what you’ll be doing a lot no matter what Vault Hunter you’ve selected to play as. It’s a recipe that has always worked.

In terms of the specifics of the guns, they look extremely unique. Their overall shapes and sounds are still as funky as ever, which is what many gamers have come to love about this iconic series. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, which is clearly evident with all of the humor that many of characters in this game have.

Going off these initial impressions, Borderlands 3 seems to play a lot like Borderlands 2. And that’s not a bad thing either. The sequel is one of the most popular games of all time. Hopefully, Gearbox Software adds some novelty in the third installment to keep the gameplay fresh for fans. Borderlands 3 is expected to hit the market on September 13 for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.
