The renowned Muay Thai legend Sagat will land in Street Fighter 6 on August 5th, bringing his terrifying Tiger shots-in-)and-awful scar-to the brand new Capcom fighting game. But with the catch-there are additional EX color options for Sagat that can be unlocked by completing challenges in World Tour mode, offering incentive to jump back into the single-player RPG-style adventure.

According to an official announcement from Street Fighter’s Twitter page, players must clear Chapter 12-1 “Kalima of the Resistance” to trigger a World Tour encounter with Sagat. Unlocking these EX colors is far more difficult, with EX1 requiring completion of the “Satsui no Hado” master mission after becoming Sagat’s apprentice, and EX2 requiring a high score on the new HARD difficulty mini-game, which is causing much conjecture over what this challenge might be.

The community response has been… maybe mixed, but explosive nonetheless. Many review zealots, such as TechnoGale, have enthused that “more World Tour content and unlockables are really cool.” On the other side, those less enamored with the idea of being dragged back into World Tour see Seanathan sarcastically remark “wow they’re making us play world tour again. Wild 💀.”

The XP grind of World Tour seems to be a provocation for some. Frites Mayo had his complaints about it: “Reaching level 50 it’s a pain to level. I cleared the story at level 50 and to unlock Akuma you have to grind to 80, it’s so mad.” Yet, Elliot=mc²+(¼λ) stands on the far this-they claim to enjoy World Tour more than fight rank matches: “noob at fighting rank match so enjoying more on world tour game.”

Several players are already getting forward thinking about the future after Sagat’s release. JoshuaSegovia19 began speculating about other Final Fight characters showing up to Street Fighter 6, while Char wondered about previews coming from Outfit 4. The EX color concept has also served as the seed for suggestions – both Yurink4 and 4everbuffy expressed that EX color unlocks for other characters could be done via World Tour missions.

GMDKeepnclassy basically wants to fix everything: “Nerf drive rush, damage and drive rush cancel damage and this game could be fun.” Kemar Simpson has his own take: “nerf ryu wtf were you guys thinking,” while WrecKing1990 is thoroughly excited by how awesome these combos will be.

This announcement also reignited conversations about representation in the cast. DarthPhazon made the point that the curious case of Elena being “segregated” in Animal Paradise while Sagat gets main mode treatment just isn’t right.

Though weeks away from his release, SF community seems divided between those who want further World Tour content and those who prefer a focus on versus battles. One thing that’s almost certain is that the “Invincible Tiger” is about to massively shake up the roster. If anyone even takes the time to grind through World Tour challenges for the EX color unlocks for him, it’ll be a sight to behold; Capcom is determined to keep their ambitious single-player mode fresh through DLC updates.

For now, fighters all across the globe are putting their skills to the test and getting ready to welcome this tall Muay Thai maestro with fit avatars of theirs in World Tour. Will you be ready when the Tiger Roars?
