Rockstar Games has released a new GTA Online-specific weekly update, and the community’s response is as expected. All users are asking for GTA 6 news, while Rockstar is releasing another update for a 10 years old game. It’s like showing up to a party hours late with more chips.

The new update is another for Community Combat Series in GTA Online, meaning it’s player-made content once again. The centerpiece is the deathmatch map ¢ Circuit Board, created by ChiCity1379. Its circuit-board theme sounds cool for close quarters combat, so it should work well for combat in small spaces. Naturally, as always, there are 2X rewards for playing the mode for a limited time to try to encourage people to give it a try.

But nobody in the replies is discussing the actual content, so we might as well be honest. I’ll tell you what you’ll see after scrolling past those comments: a wall of GTA 6 requests. Every single comment is a variation of “where’s GTA 6,” or “we don’t care about this, give us the new game.”

“Come back to us when it’s GTA6 related” is how @SugarxLara put it, which is a sentiment that dozens of people agree with. If @Thor92C had to put it in words, it would be with a sleeping emoji like “Unless it’s GTA 6 related 🥱,” which frankly sums up the entire vibe.

The sentiment surrounding having notifications on Rockstar’s page is best described by @WestsideMaverik, who said it was “lowkey exhilarating as hell cause you really never know when you gon fuck around & catch a fresh GTA VI post.” The shocking part is it’s sad, but it’s both understandable. The literal killing of anticipation is real.

More people are becoming creative with their GTA 6 demands. @Valordia is asking for Turkish localization for GTA VI, complete with heart emojis as if it expedites the process. @MR_OLLS is thinking of the pricing, already worrying and asking, “please no 100 bucks for GTA 6!!!” with a crying emoji.

Then there’s the usual pandemonium that’s always found in gaming Twitter replies. @XerceousAkalae randomly screamed “BONER JUICE SIGMA ROCKSTAR! Sigma rockstar!!!” at someone else, and @insanityLel followed up with “Nigga what” which is the exact same level of confusion.

What’s actually staggering is how Rockstar keeps supporting GTA Online after all these years. The Community Combat Series is actually pretty nice—showcasing player-created content and giving people 2X rewards to try it out. The deathmatch with the circuit board theme sounds good for a deathmatch and it’s probably filled with tight corridors; maybe there are some electrical hazards or something.

But the player base has certainly moved on in their heads. They’re done with Los Santos and ready for Vice City. @RadioLosSanto literally said “Next Year we are back in Vice City. Let’s go” with a fire emoji. Even though we have a single trailer, the expectation for GTA 6 is off the charts.

There’s also some Red Dead Online commenters begging for attention. @Basscat73 dropped the hashtags #SaveRedDeadOnline and #KeepRedDeadOnlineAlive which… oof. That game got more neglected than a stolen car on Grove Street.

What’s interesting is how the community is split on “give us new content” and “give us the new game already.” A few people might still be enjoying GTA Online, but the majority seems to be just waiting, either patiently or not, for the next big thing.

Of course, there’s always that one @edgemetax who said “No successful person plays videogames” while having an NFT as a profile picture, which is just pure comedy. Like, they’re in a gaming thread complaining about gaming and displaying a digital artwork that lost 99% of its value.

The Circuit Board deathmatch looks pretty cool in the description. The best of the community-created content in GTA Online has been the fact that players get to make their own creations. With the 2X rewards, it’s definitely worth trying if you’re still grinding the criminal empire lifestyle.

But the majority are simply refreshing Rockstar’s page for the GTA 6 trailer 3 announcement. The hype train departed a while ago, and it is not stopping for circuit-board themed deathmatches. The comments are sprinkled with hope, frustration, and memes, which is pretty much gaming Twitter in a nutshell.

If Rockstar had announced flying cars that shoot rainbows, the response would still be, “Cool, but where’s GTA 6?” The community’s anticipation has reached critical mass. The only thing that would satisfy the community’s anticipation is news about the next game.

There still is dedication to the game and community. The weekly updates and community content features show care for the game—especially since it’s from an era when the iPhone 5 was brand new.

So yeah, the community is definitely anticipating what’s next. People expect great things having no doubt in it, and they are waiting for Vice City. Hopefully, the community is anticipating an update that would make them stop receiving these weekly updates with no one really caring.
