This week in GTA Online sees a massive event with 2X payouts for the new Survival mode of Cayo Perico, Assault on Cayo Perico, Payphone Hits, and the Community Race Series. Double GTA$ and RP earnings throughout the week give opportunity for substantial cash stacking before an update comes—or just grab another supercar to crash immediately.
So what is up with Cayo Perico being “overrun with all kinds of threats”? The answer really is that if you haven’t popped into GTA Online lately, the private island has practically become a playground for mixed mayhem and, with double payouts on the Survival and Assault modes, those modes are now quite literally a free-for-all for big bucks. Or short time. Probably both.
However, with these days, any Rockstar tweet has seconds before the comments get filled with GTA 6 chants. Though @Skinnymini122 uttered, “My hype for GTA VI is getting lower and lower.. DO SOMETHING!” They were not alone, for dozens echoed that sentiment as well, such as @GamingTechUK who said, “Wake me up for pre orders,” and @muito_musica who credited simple demands of, “Release gta 6 this year!”.
It’s kind of crazy how every GTA Online update, no matter how cool, just sets off the largest waiting room for GTA 6 to start making noise. Probably better summed up by @CallBotCrypto: “Rockstar really said ‘no GTA 6 yet, but here’s zombies on a private island.'” Thanks I guess??
And while some were maybe not salty, they genuinely loved it. @Kratos5231 said Cayo Perico survival mode was “so much fun” that they were “definitely gonna play more later.” @Glowrithm was amped about the double grind and asked, “2X rewards? Time to max out my setup. Who’s joining?”
Then there is… uh, the creative responses. @DD531435108801 tweeted some cryptic release date guess: “grand theft – gran-2026 grand gta 6 26 may theft auto may 2026”. Alright, buddy. We see you now.
Some players decided to keep going about bugs. @mburcal replied, “Overran with hackers and cheaters #SaveRockstarGames,” which is fair. While @GHOSTY417073421 reported the game crashed on PS5 in zombie wave 2 of the new survival mode. So, you know, classic GTA Online experience. Fun, but janky.
Oh, and the Turkish scene showed up as well—@gta_turkish, and @Felix1905 both demanded support for the Turkish language in GTA 6. The hashtag #WeWantGta6inTurkish keeps gaining traction, and honestly, good for them. Representation does matter, after all, even for crime sims.
Meanwhile, @T22Jarrod took a different approach: “I would rather buy story mode DLCs,” which is probably something that a lot of older GTA fans have muttered under their breath for the past ten years. Remember when single-player expansions actually mattered? Yeah, me neither. It’s been a long time.
After that come @ItsZedK, with what has to be the most relatable story of them all: “Rockstar, I appreciate the event week but Silksong is out so NOT RIGHT NOW BRO.” Priorities, people.
All in all, this event week is pretty much your usual GTA Online double swag that keeps players tied to the game while something bigger is being cooked up. I mean a crumb of news about GTA 6. But, for now, double cash on Cayo Perico prices quite well as the consolation prize. Maybe.
Still grinding out in Los Santos? Now’s a great time to get back in, grab a buddy, and survive some waves. Or repeat Payphone Hits. Whatever clears the bills, right? Just try not to think about how old GTAV is. Or how we still play it. What was I talking about? Oh, yeah—zombies. On an island. Double cash. Let’s go!
