Old school wrestling fans rejoice! WWF WrestleFest is getting a sequel in the form of RetroMania Wrestling. “Oh, what a rush!”

It was announced today that RetroMania Wrestling is the official sequel to WWF WrestleFest.

The arcade game WWF WrestleFest came out in 1991 and it featured icons from the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), including Hulk Hogan, The Ultimate Warrior, and Sgt. Slaughter.

RetroMania Wrestling is hoping to recapture some of the thunder the game brought.

The game is staying true to the arcade-style pixel art of WWF WrestleFest, featuring 2D animated wrestlers and fans.

The game will have several match types, including One-on-One matches, Tag Team matches, and of course, the Battle Royale. Retromania Wrestling allows 2 to 8 players for local multiplayer while the availability of online play is to be determined.

Here is a video of some alpha gameplay footage from the developer Retrosoft Studios

The roster hasn’t been fully announced yet, but so far, the game will feature:

• Animal and Hawk from the Road Warriors
• Austin Idol
• Big Stevie Cool
• Blue Meanie
• Colt Cabana
• Hollywood Nova
• Johnny Retro
• Nick Aldis
• Tommy Dreamer
• Zack Sabre Jr.

The game will feature 12 to 16 wrestling superstars at the launch, and future DLCs will introduce even more wrestlers.

No wrestling game would be complete without ring entrances, and it looks like RetroMania Wrestling is no exception, as it is including music and multiple entrance attires for each wrestler.

The fans around the ring will be following how the match is going and will start chanting as they react to the action.

RetroMani Wrestling will represent two wrestling promotions, the National Wrestling Alliance and House of Hardcore. National Wrestling Alliance has been around since the ‘40s, and House of Hardcore was founded in 2012 by Tommy Dreamer.

Wrestling fans will compete and win titles, including the HOH Television Championship and the illustrious 10 Pounds of Gold.

There will be a story-mode also, however not much information has been released about it besides featuring a bunch of different NWA wrestlers like Nick Aldis and the Road Warriors.

RetroMania Wrestling is billed to come out for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. Retrosoft Studios isn’t rushing the game, but they are hoping for an early 2020 release date.

The cost of the game has not yet been established; however, it won’t be more than $30.

RetroMania Wrestling should be an entertaining throwback game for wrestling and arcade game fans.
