Months in the making, Reload, the ever-quick battle shooter, just got a major update and the Combat Shotgun will be introduced this coming Tuesday. The people are going crazy over it!
Very little was said in the official tweet by the devs: “The Combat Shotgun is set to be added to Reload on Tuesday,” followed by some fire emojis to raise the hype even more. No stats, no patch notes—just pure shotgun energy. Just the way it should be!
A typical reception when a weapon announcement is made is that half the people love it, while those that think it’s OP would rather complain about wanting more maps altogether. In this case though? This feels different somehow. Perhaps the timing, and perhaps after all these years both the game and its million-shotgun variants always felt slightly absurd in Reload. But there is simply an aura about the whole affair.
The fans have either nodded out or are too busy prepping loadouts for the new meta since no one’s put anything in the comments yet. Not really usual since normally these tweets get flooded with requests, memes, or roasting.
What we can say is that Reload never had a heart when it comes down to shotguns. High-risk-high-reward: These babies will ruin someone in close range, but if you miss? Well, congratulations! You are basically a sitting duck. So a *combat* shotgun? That means something that can be potentially mid-range, increased fire rate, or tighter spread. Or, I don’t know, it could just be a reskin with a cool name.
However, some details might either be an expert marketing move or a plain and utter anarchism from the devs. Either way, Tuesday is too far.
If you play Reload, warm up those flicks. Because once this hits, the skirmish in-close will get filthy. Not to mention? We live for that.
By the way, any hopes for a double-barrel next? Just sayin’. And hey, devs, if you’re reading this—how about an early patch note drop? We *really* need to theorycraft.
