Well, that was quite a biggest news announcement of sorts in gaming. The peripheral giant had announced its partnership with Riot Games for their forthcoming fighting title 2XKO-it’s a goddess-who-will-witness-how-the-world-lost-its-minds-right-now-game-recognizes-game is the official tag line, and honestly, seems to fit.

Caught in the hype? 2XKO is Riot’s entry into the fighting scene. Y’know, those famous League of Legends guys? Yeah. They’re making a 2v2 fighter. Razer has jumped in officially. There were no details whatsoever from the announcement except a slick splash and a link, which might turn out to be catastrophic for the FGC.

The response of the community was instant and as always quite unhinged. One player was quick with the request for Razer to “make a blitzcrank vibrator please,” which is an option I guess. Hardware-focused comments like “new panthera??,” and “New wolverine pad? 👀” were flooding the reply. It’s so exciting and yet so confusing all at once.

And when you thought that the mayhem on Twitter couldn’t get worse, a mistaken Olaide Adesina started spamming the thread complaining about a Razer Gold card and desperately begging for customer support in the announcement’s replies. Like, bro, this ain’t the forum for that? But that’s Twitter for you. An unusual customer support query gets attached to every major announcement.

Even more logical queries began flooding in. One sought to confirm whether whatever they are making will be on console, which is a very much valid consideration since 2XKO is confirmed for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Another user speculated on Cassiopeia being confirmed as a character, showing just how deep the League of Legends lore cuts for this community.

But that really-big question remains: what has Razer actually been cooking up? Special edition fight sticks? New controllers? Some kind of themed peripherals? ‘Coming soon’ has been filling in for way too much already; players want some answers ASAP.

From its origins in arcade games, Razer has had a small presence in fighting games. The Panthera arcade sticks have been extremely well accepted amongst the FGC for many years, and the Wolverine controllers are also loved by many. If we can believe that Riot Games – basically printing money courtesy of League and Valorant- can put their name and money behind really fancy hardware, well, that reviewer with a glancing sniff about it: ‘Another overpriced piece of plastic?’ Ouch.

Timing wise, 2XKO is not due to be released anytime soon – actually, the end of 2025 is where things are looking at the moment. So Razer getting on board now kinda tells me they are considering this title to have tremendous potential or are trying to accrue first mover advantage. Either way, I see it as a genuine vote of confidence for Riot’s fighting-game effort.

Echoes of excitement from the FGC over anything fresh is in itself a lovely thing to watch. The fighting game community can be… Idiosyncratic about new entries; nonetheless, the vibes surrounding 2XKO have been mostly positive. Just the mere presence of Razer intriguingly kicks the hype up a notch. Still, some players simply want a Raion 2, as one reply desperately begged for.

Then it just clicked for me. Razer loves working with major game companies for collaboration efforts with Overwatch stuff, Fortnite stuff, and so on. And Riot? Well, they are able to work up a full ecosystem around their games. This all looks and feels like the inception of something far larger than just a few branded controllers.

We will have to wait for the actual details about what products are coming, when they’ll come, and how much they’re going to cost. Until then, though, the FGC at least has something new to speculate on. Between this and all the other fighting game news lately, it’s a great time to be into fighters. Just maybe don’t hold your breath for a Blitzcrank vibrator anytime soon. Unless? Nah, probably not.

So… yeah, Razer x 2XKO’s really a thing now. What that thing shall be actually is a matter still very much up in the air, but the gaming world will be watching-and probably complaining about customer service in the replies regardless.
