The announcement of the Psylocke Breezy Butterfly costume has been hugely impactful in Marvel Rivals, and already the internet is having a meltdown. The new dress-up will be accompanied by the launch of Season 3 on July 17th at 7 PM PT and shall remain live until August 14. It is a bit crazy, just saying.
The official Marvel Rivals Twitter account hinted at the skin: “I have spent so long fighting monsters and demons, I cannot remember the last time I allowed myself to have fun. Today, that changes.” And change it did; gone are the days when Psylocke was just known for death-related vibes; now she’s going butterflies and sunshine, becoming what some players dub “the most distracting skin in the game.”
The reactions? Oh, they have come from everywhere. Excited players such as PortalMasterdr1 even said, “I love her new skin 😍.” On the other side, there was FwmKeke who had a little more to say: “PUT SOME CLOTHES ON THESE MF YOU WEIRD ASS DEVS.” Then came Valoney_ stating a funny flaw: “Still trying to figure out the point of buying the vfx if no one else can see it.” Fair enough, in fact.
Then, there is talk as to whether this is just a fanservice-like thing or an actually cool thing to have. Yokaii_5 added “you know this is a great selling ideas you know have naked heroes that everyone love but you must have a ideas for the future too right? like cool characters and cool stuff from the comics and shows…”. Cannot argue against that!
Naturally, the memes are coming in too. DL00PY went with “Live look at Netease employees,” while BorgeousCat slipped a cheeky “Nice View” screenshot. The competitive players aren’t having fun anymore as well—TheFNStickman confessed: “Imma be stuck in bronze forever now…” because seriously, how does one focus when Psylocke looks like that?
But hey, not every one is in for the chaos. Batman99166822 has loudly stated that, “Please address the constant disconnecting in Quick play # Xbox.” Priorities, people.
One thing for sure: Marvel Rivals knows how to get everyone talking. Whether for the skin itself, for the timing, or for the sheer audacity of dropping that butterfly-themed Psylocke right in the middle of a competitive shooter. It’s an update that will stick out. And with Season 3 just around the corner, the players are definitely logging in just to catch a glimpse of what the fuss is all about.
Do not forget to mark your calendars, set your alarms, and notify team members at school about the impending distraction that is going to ensue. Because July 17 shall officially mark the arrival of breeziness on the battleground.
