Fresh information about Team MZ was leaked just recently by Pokemon Legends ZA, and honestly? It has often been regarded as the coolest team since Team Rocket has tried once again of stealing Pikachu for the 500th time. According to the official tweet, Team MZ is about protecting Lumiose City, and the player will join with an interesting list of new characters who seem as if they’ve walked straight out of a runway or a dance battle. You’ll be battling alongside the likes of Urbain, Taunie, Naveen (who’s supposedly aspiring to become a fashion designer?), and Lida (who’s a professional dancer). This isn’t your grandmas’ Pokemon game.
Though the tweet is hype, the replies are… an entirely different layer of craziness. Some folks seem to be losing their mind, with @SANDSHREWLIME claiming the designs to be “peak.” Others are somewhat distracted. One whole thread is about someone yelling all sorts of things about Elon Musk? And then there is an individual crying to Nintendo to drop a Direct right now (@SgtBilby, we feel you). Typical antics on Twitter.
Here goes the discussion about leaks. Some players tell each other that they already know which Mega Evolutions are coming because they were already revealed in previous leaks. One user, @SteviePom789, even went so far as to rob a wishlist by saying, “Bad news for you, everyone knows the new Megas after they got leaked months ago.” Oof. Meanwhile, some others just hope that Mega Starmie turns up (@amberm255, good luck).
Then comes the obligatory greedy Nintendo comment (@jazc_007) because what Pokemon reveal isn’t followed by somebody complaining about the prices? At least one @ShaunV2-enjoying fan has gotten so pumped that he would digitally pre-order it, calling it “fantastic.” Yes, so, a mixed bag.
What is wild about these new personalities is how much character they already portray. Naveen into fashion-what are we thinking? Lida kicking up a storm through her battles? I’m getting a bastion of Pokemon meets Project Runway vibes, and honestly, we are here for this. The game has been a marathon, and if the devs really did take all this while on it, there is hope that the spirit of the game will shine through (@BlockyAura’s optimism might not be all for nothing).
Some hang by the other end of the line. User @Verliswolf deems the trailers “objectively bad”; then another user, @MagicFabulus, states, “Then don’t play it.” That’s fair. But really-when have any doubts ever stopped any Pokemon fan? The hype train is out, and Team MZ has already chosen to divert it toward Lumiose City.
Pokemon Legends ZA is shaping up to be a wild vibe. Fashion? Dancing? Or maybe finally Mega Evolving your favorite ‘mon? Plenty to look forward to. If only Nintendo would just drop that Direct already…
