Another new month is upon us, and that means it’s time for another list of upcoming Pokemon Go event. For February 2020, Niantic has laid out a number of special offerings that will delight new and old players alike.

Of course, we’ve already written a bit about February’s Community Day on February 22. Trainers from all over the world will be able to vote on which Pokemon will be featured this month by completing a series of challenges, available at Pokestops.

However, announcements for February go beyond the usual Community Day excitement. There’s going to be a new Gen 5 Pokemon debuting, along with a new Legendary Pokemon, and much more.

There’s going to be another special research questline debuting this month that will center around Team Rocket. Of course, as has been the case with previous Special Research Quests offered by Niantic, the player will end up in a battle with Giovanni at the end. Defeating him will earn you a new Shadow Legendary Pokemon, namely Shadow Raikou.

Along with that questline, there will also be a new set of Field Research tasks that players can take advantage of. This comes with a new Research Breakthrough reward. Every time a player achieves a Research Breakthrough in February, they will have a chance to catch an all-new Gen 5 Pokemon, Woobat.

There will also be a debuting Generation 5 Legendary Pokemon this month. It is none other than Tornadus.

Coming up on February 7 and continuing through to February 10, Niantic is holding a special celebration event for the Sinnoh region. Throughout the event, Pokemon that originally came from the Sinnoh region will be appearing in the wild with more frequency. Any 7 km egg that the player obtains during the event is guaranteed to hatch into a Sinnoh region Pokemon.

February represents an opportunity to encounter shiny versions of Gible, Budew, Riolu, and Hoppopotas for the first time. There will be special Field Research tasks that can reward players with Sinnoh Stones.

Pokemon Go will also be celebrating Valentine’s Day with a returning event. It runs from February 14-17. Pink-colored Pokemon will be appearing more in the wild and in Raids. Audino and Alomomola from Gen 5 will also debut during this event. A Shiny Happiny or Shiny Chansey can also be found in the wild during this time.

A special Raid Day will be taking place on the 15th, and that will feature Lickitung. There will be a friendship weekend event from February 21-24 where friendship levels will increase faster and you will earn double candy for trades. Speaking of trades, they will cost only half as much Stardust to perform. The number of gifts you can open on a daily basis will also increase to 40.

Two new events will also debut in February. The Pokemon Spotlight Hour will take place on February 4 from 6 to 7 p.m. local time where a surprise Pokemon will appear frequently in the wild. On February 6, there will be a Mystery Bonus Hour event, which will provide a special surprise bonus from 6 to 7 p.m. local time.
