Pokémon Sword and Shield just launched, and gamers are enjoying the new region of Galar. The official website has been releasing news and tips to enhance the new Pokémon experience. \n \nThe newest game features Max Raid Battles. These battles allow four Trainers to team up to battle a wild Dynamax Pokémon, but sometimes Gigantamax Pokémon may appear. The appearance of Gigantamax are quite rare and only appear during specific time frames. \n \n \n \nFrom Friday, Nov 15 to early January 2020, there is a higher chance gamers on both Sword and Shield may encounter a Gigantamax Butterfree. \n \nOther Gigantamax Pokémon will appear depending on the version of the game. Pokémon Sword players will encounter Gigantamax Drednaw at a higher rate, while Shield players will see Gigantamax Corviknight. \n \nDrednaw is a new Pokémon introduced in Sword and Shield. It has two primary attacks that players will have to watch out for, plus one hidden ability. Corviknight also has two primary movies with one hidden ability. \n \nThis is the first Gigantamax raid event since the game launched last week. \n \nMax Raids can be fought with three other players. If a player isn't online, they'll team up with AI-controlled Trainers. The battle then must be completed in a set amount of time, or else the Pokémon may escape. \n \nGamers won't be able to take on the Gigantamax Pokémon with random AI this time. The Pokémon website states at the bottom of the post: "Note: To enjoy the above feature, you’ll need to connect to the internet." \n \nThe new raid event is dependent on an internet connection. Gamers can't participate unless they're online, or else they're restricted to Local Search. \n \nLuckily, connecting Pokémon Sword and Shield to the internet is simple. \n \nIf players want to connect to the internet, they'll have to press Y on the Nintendo Switch and enter the Y-Comm menu. From there, they press + to get online. Gamers will know they're online if menu options like Link Trade, Swap Cards, or Search Stamps appear. The Wild Area will also be populated with other players who will give out ingredients and more. \n \nThis isn't the only Giantamax event. The official website teases that the Giantamax Pokémon will change over time, so more raids are planned for the future. \n \nPokémon Sword and Shield is currently available on Nintendo Switch.
