The Summer Sale went on with a bit of rhythm when PlayStation entered the scene with the addition of new titles, and everybody starts scrambling for the best deal. The Sale kicked off early in the summer and needed a major push when a fresh batch of titles arrived to a lineup that was already bursting at the seams. The players have their way of looking into the entire lineup on the PlayStation Store, but in case you want to know about the hot picks, we’ve got the scoop.
Coming to the giants: Red Dead Redemption 2 has been under a lot of love in the comments, with one calling it the “hands down” best choice. And can you really blame them? It is the colossal open world with the engaging storyline and thousands of things to do for the price at which it is going on sale right now. Another major competing price is $20 for Persona 5 Royal, somewhat ideal for those who never really got it the first time around.
But not everybody is overly thrilled. Some players like @InfinityGlock99 have pointed out that these games that are being discounted for the most part are titles that they’ve seen for 10 years. “Only old titles are up for sale mostly,” they tweeted. Well, if new releases at half-off were on your wish list, you might be disappointed. That’s how sales work anyway; unless a game bombed, don’t expect an immediate deep discount.
Then went the whole debate about the PlayStation pricing model; an average user, @ggalindo23, ditched PlayStation for his PC labeling the console ecosystem as “overpriced garbage.” That really hurt! Others, however, like @Soulbound_TV, expressed they’re going to keep on spending: “Time to empty my wallet and fill my library.”
Of course, the sale has sparked some … well, very interesting tangential discussions. One @KC_4191 came out of nowhere with some mind-boggling takes on UK politics before meandering back around to gaming. A very classic Twitter moment. Then, @dr_solly_ went right over to PlayStation and asked, “What’s the best game in the store now in your opinion?” Spoiler alert: PlayStation never answered, but comments had plenty of suggestions.
Heck, I won’t even get started on the technical issues. @JeerFeer aired a nightmare about a bricked PS5 just months out of warranty, “Few hundred hours on it, clean inside. PoS,” they vented. That’s brutal. Meanwhile, @iron_will07 just wants a better way to filter New Additions during these month-long sales. Small QoL request, but legit.
The verdict: So if you’re expanding your collection or have a few classics to hold onto, now’s an attractive time for a buy. From immersing yourself in Red Dead’s wild west to losing yourself in a stylish world painted by Persona 5, sale picks cover the basics. Just maybe do yourself the favor of not glancing at your bank statement right after.
If you still need to be convinced, @GTAModsAU says, “Imagine how much smoother your gameplay could feel when everything’s already unlocked.” Mic drop.
The sale is late now, so go snatch up those deals before they’re history. Or don’t. Your backlog is probably big enough already. Wait, what was I saying? Oh right, happy gaming.
