Palworld’s statistics are out, and, once again, the numbers are far beyond what anyone predicted. This is, no doubt, a community achievement. Within five days, five players managed to mine a stunning 50,000,000 pieces of copper ore. Think about how incredibly massive this number is. To reiterate: fifty million.
The milestone was celebrated on Twitter by the developers, who also posted the accolades and an explanation. To put it in perspective, this means a staggering 115.74 pieces of copper ore being mined every second, without pause. The Palpagos Islands clearly needed a grind, and the community’s pals were eagerly working the copper nodes.
And you know the best bit? Unlike the majority of the companies, Pocketpair is actually giving a nod to this awe-inspiring feat. The tweet implies that a new ‘Copper Collector’ item will be shipped to players’ Dressing Rooms later this week. Everyone wins! Even more free dressing room goodies just for playing; how nice is that? Consider it a small cosmetic token for joining the mining madness.
They’re remarkable numbers. The gameplay community of Palworld is large, and when they focus on a target, the unrelenting pursuit of it is guaranteed. Unlike some fabricated task that has a predetermined goal and a progress bar, this is real. Players are engaging in their usual activities, such as moving to bases and crafting gear, and simultaneously obliterating an already absurd goal.
Clear evidence is available, months after the chaotic launch period, that there is still life preserved in the game. Players are logged in, farming, and exploring new areas. It is also a fact the developers are taking notice, and that, arguably, is the best part. They view the community accomplish something noteworthy so as to grant a modest reward. Rather than being passive consumers of the game, the relationship more often feels like active collaboration.
Regardless of what it’s going to be, I appreciate the fact it’s a free cosmetic that states, “I was there.” Wondering if it’ll be a mini copper pickaxe charm, a copper hat, or a backpack that continuously emits copper ore particles? The possibilities are endless. In my opinion, being able to claim the item and showing the memento is pretty cool.
With that, I can’t help but think… what comes after this? Is there, perhaps, an unexplained quest for Paldium Fragments? Or, for that matter, a collective sum of Pals captured? With this becoming the new standard, I believe players will be searching for the next huge community figure to obliterate. The grind doesn’t stop; it just changes targets.
While waiting, don’t forget to log in later this week for your free item redemption. Be sure not to leave it in your dressing room collecting dust! Gotta flaunt that Copper Collector, right? Honestly, this is huge for the Palworld community. A stunning show of force.
