Blizzard has released the latest character for Overwatch 2, and Vendetta has been the one that the players are talking about already. The official Overwatch account shared a hype tweet with a sword, fire emojis to represent her amazing presence on the battlefield, and asked everyone to try out the Hero Trial, which is available now until December 1. The trailer for Season 20 will also be available on December 2 at 9 am PT. However, the replies are the funniest part, man. The community is equally divided; some are crazy about her, while others are already calling her broken. It’s a real thing!

So who is Vendetta? He is the new damage hero and as the tweet reads “he did NOT come to play games.” Which yes, we can see that. Her teleportation ability seems to revolve around a huge sword and extraordinary mobility. One gamer guess named Dani said “flying higher than pharah” making it… slightly worrisome? Exciting? Both to tell the truth. Moreover, another player called Wheresthebeef has said that her downward swing does “130dmg? Lmao” which is unbelievable for a mere little attack. For real, what were they thinking about balance issues?

Yet, there is not only crazy support. Nabi aka TheMcrees could not resist saying “this character looks too op like she is doing one shots on everything why would they put this in the game???” And we are saying? Mood. Anubirai called her “another AoE Aimbot hero with No skill to kill kit” but at the same time, praised the artists for her design. So, at least she looks cool while she is taking over the game, I guess. The gap is real—some players are saying she is the best, while others are already complaining about the support experience being ruined again. User N E O N referred to her as OW1 Doomfist but “dumber since her 1 shot kill is easy, has armor and block” and said it makes playing support miserable. Ouch!

Do the tank mains also feel themselves neglected? Joe Kelly tweeted “Yeah she comes to the screw Tank mains from our hero, we should have gotten this season. TANK STRIKE!!!!” and Fabs Rich simply asked “why did you skip tank” which is really a great point. We have just had Mauga the last season, so getting another tank would have been awesome but then again, sometimes the DPS just gets the love. It’s the life cycle in Overwatch, always the same.

And then, there are also the typical bugs that accompany the day of Overwatch patch. Mason reported that “The Practice range is not working properly” and someone named riley just said “fix your game then I don’t know” which is… not that helpful. There is also some cloud of confusion surrounding the bundle price, with Tea pointing out one bewildering mathematics where the 5900 mega bundle is still costing 5044 after a skin acquisition for 1900, inquiring if the skin is only worth 856. Blizzard’s store mathematics has always been a mystery, as if trying to understand the lore.

Nevertheless, the hype squad must not be neglected. JacobFranken was ecstatic all caps saying “I LOVE THIS CHARACTER ALREADY W DPS, TESTING VENDETTAS ABILITIES! NEW HERO?” and shared a link which might be directing to a video. And braveheart_89 just said “Looking forward to trying her out” which is a mood. Some people are really into her voice lines—Fallen Hero attributed her: “I do not want power, I deserve it. My ambition will not stop! When the blood is running, I GIVE CHASE.” and called it very cool. So, she has this edgy vibe that follows the whole vendetta theme.

Furthermore, there is a bit of international flavor when Christian Yun Farron says in Italian “FINALLY, at least the ‘mamma mia’ will be dubbed well in case they think of making a voice-line!” which is a very accurate but hopeful expectation and we are with it. And then there are the… intriguing comments concerning her appearance. Ayden asked “why would you guys make her look white in her scoreboard icon?” which is a legitimate question in regard to representation and consistency. And then Bubblesssszzs and CodenamedAshe were doing just mutual hype for “muscle mommy’s” with heart eyes emojis so the thirst is definitely real folks.

What was I saying again? Ah, yes! The impact of Vendetta. It is clear that Blizzard is pushing the limits with her character—high damage, high mobility, probably high skill ceiling but also some low skill floor moments that frustrate players. The Hero Trial is going on so that the whole player base can try her out before PlayStation and Xbox gamers can join in.
