Should I hang on? Did anyone bring in a real leak for the Nintendo Switch 2 box art?? And it came with full game download of Mario Kart World?! What is happening here right now??
Because of course, a tweet showed up showing what looks like the box for the legendary “Switch 2” and it’s just got some wild details on it. First off, the design is… kind of slick? Well, classic Nintendo blue but somewhat slicker. And then there’s the big one—bundled with a full download of Mario Kart World.
Ok, so before we all completely lose our minds just going into it:
1. “Mario Kart World”—wait, what? That’s not a thing…yet. Unless Nintendo’s just sitting on a huge rebrand/sequel to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (which, let’s be real, is still printing money). Is this a future Mario Kart? Open-world racing? Battle royale karts??
2. Full game download—no cart? That’s…interesting. Nintendo has maintained a weird stubbornness regarding digital vs. hard copy, so this would be quite a change to accommodate a download. Maybe this is just a set placeholder for a special editions kind of thing.
3. The box itself—no official word from Nintendo (duh), but the design looks just polished enough to be believable. Or it’s a really good fake.
So is this real? Probably not? But also, what if it is? Nintendo has stayed uncharacteristically radio silent on the Switch successor, with rumors rampant that we will finally see it revealed in 2024. A new Mario Kart would be the greatest system-seller for a fresh console.
And replies go all over the place:
– “Fake. Nintendo would never.”
– “I WILL SELL MY SOUL FOR THIS.”
– “Why does the box look like it’s from 2010?”
Well, it’s not real. But if it’s true, this will be the biggest Nintendo leak since…the last one.
So inconsiderately doubtful, but deliciously hype-worthy. I think I’m gonna start keeping a stash for that pre-order for the imaginary Switch 2—the one in my dreams.
