Nintendo released the Nintendo Switch 2 editions of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, and gamers are… well, let’s just say there is no unanimous chorus of approval. There are those who are praising the release, those who are mad beyond words, and those who remain confused-the typical Nintendo fanbase energy, really.

It was charged to update first. Both games now run buttery smooth at 60fps, and on the plus side, those who suffered frame drops here and there on the original Switch can now rejoice. Then there’s a new feature bearing the name Zelda Notes, and few players find it actually useful. I know, shocking, right? Lauren Breedlove herself @laurenthehylian said it was “super useful,” so that’s a five-star review coming from an individual who has not spent enough time in Hyrule.

Wherein lies the dowdy chaos. Some players are salty over DLC not being included in the updates. Like c’mon Nintendo, you couldn’t just throw in the Expansion Pass for free? @huskywolfy2 just outright said, “The updates should have been free they don’t even include the DLC either.” Well, that’s a fair statement, I must say. Meanwhile, @devildog2984 sort of sputtered in the replies, making it clear that if you own the DLC, you don’t have to rebuy it for the Switch 2 version. So that’s… something I guess?

There’s more kerfuffle on the price. @PoorSoul364 asked, “Why can’t I get both for 80$? God.” And indeed, the mood. Pricing has always been a point of contention for Nintendo, I guess this is just one more. @davidruun1982 went in full rage mode, stating, “i will hard past on the new nintendo switch. it just a 1.2 system.” Oof. Somebody ain’t happy.

But then comes support from the quarter who aren’t totally negative: @PlayerEssence is in the middle of giving a fresh go to Breath of the Wild in Master Mode, while @trsrpc is hyped up at the idea of blocking their “devious machinery” in Tears of the Kingdom without ever dropping from 60fps. So yeah, the updates are legit-but maybe to certain people not legit enough for $70.

Another good thing is that DLC upgrade packs come free for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription holders. That should earn a few brownie points. But still, it’s not like most of the populace is not side-eyeing Nintendo for the DLC not being present within the base package.

Xenoblade fans meanwhile are all fired up requesting refurbs for their games. @Eragon_RH and @GeassGamer95 dropped comments, “Can we get upgrades for the Xenoblade games next?” and “Xenoblade X upgrade when?” Anybody there, Nintendo?

And then he’s the guy wishing for Arabic language support. “Peace be upon you, people of America. When will Arabic language be added to the games and the device?” Legit question, my dude.

So yeah, the Switch 2 Editions of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are here, and they’re… fine. With better frame rates, some cool extras, and a whole lot of Nintendo being Nintendo. Worth the money? Well, that depends on just how much you love Zelda or on how much patience you have left for Nintendo’s antic darrs.
