Nintendo has shocked everyone with a gift code for the Switch 2 Edition of Kirby and the Forgotten Land and its new DLC Star-Crossed World. The reactions of the players are quite divided. While one group is excited about the freebies and is redeeming the STARCROSSEDWORD code tweeted by Nintendo America’s official handle, quite a few number of people are complaining about the upcoming console. The usual Twitter rage.
If you already have or intend to buy the Switch 2 Edition of Kirby and the Forgotten Land, you can enter the code and redeem a reward through the game. It’s pretty typical Nintendo, as these little freebies are quite common. The replies to this particular tweet have never been a quieter battle ground of excitement, confusion, and outright anger about the Switch 2. It is a whole thing.
Let’s start with some positive feedback. There are indeed a few people who are genuinely happy. For instance, pixelluma’s reply is really nice. They say, “Hooray for Kirby’s new adventure! I’ll definitely check out that present code, thanks for sharing!” Then, we have aliennation026 who straight-up says, “So pumped for this!” We also have DededeSucc, who’s just posting sad comments about running out of Starry Coins after completing the DLC and begging for more. It’s a relatable feeling.
After that, things go downhill. The phrase “Switch 2” in that tweet unleashed a torrent of preemptive and uninvited takes on the Switch 2, a device that has never been confirmed. Personally I think, we got the best hot take from XionR13, “Ah yes. Another Switch 2 port to squeeze even more money out of your followers. Just make the games run better on Switch 2 for free since you failed to do so on Switch 1.” That was a savage take. It is clear that nobody in that community likes any form of paid upgrades for a game they already own.
Naturally, this spiraled into a small snowball argument in the replies. Nintendfan1983 issued a response to this, “It’s added content? Plenty of games run better on switch 2 for free.” But like, are there?? We don’t even know what the Switch 2 is yet! That’s, like, the entire reason why this is a problem. Everyone is debating specs and performance of a console that Nintendo has not put an official word out about. It’s pandemonium.
Shortly after, mmdman886, who also goes by Werewolf Freak, took off on his usual stream of consciousness about how Nintendo is “lying about the switch2 performance” and that Nintendo should “show some actual facts.” He also bragged that his “estimation of the switch2 raw performance was pretty much bloody spot on. Without knowing the full specs. It’s like being a geek actually gives me hindsight or something.” The energy is just too much, honestly. Wait, was I talking about this? Ah yeah, Kirby.
Amid all the console wars nonsense, there were some other random requests. I.E., LOSTLEAD8R just wants “Nintendo switch 2 achievements please.” goofyahlalafell asked if Nintendo could “bring Nintendo music to pc,” which sparked another user, glitteringab, to claim that “Nintendo HATES Pc for some reason. And I think it actively hurts them.” Which, yeah, that tracks. Nintendo is notoriously protective of their IP.
Even geudb16 pleaded Nintendo to add portuguese “to Kirby” stating as well “doug promised and deleted the message later.” Drama, with a precise call-out!
Afterward, CoolerShredder is, presumably, the only one commenting after redeeming the code, stating “Just 1 rare stone? I need more. MORE.” which in my opinion is the most relatable of this entire bunch. The eternal clash of inevitably lacking crafting materials or currency in a game. We feel you, shredder.
So what’s the reward? The tweet doesn’t mention it, it just says “claim your reward.” There is a Classic Nintendo to be mysterious. It is probably some starry coins or a rare stone like the one a user mentioned, maybe a cute hat for Kirby, who knows. The least important thing is that it’s FREE. And free is always good right?
The reward feels secondary, especially being free, but this really highlights how strange the community is today: everyone desires genuine, real, concrete information about the Switch 2, but every mention of it sparks a rage of wild speculation, demands, and complaints. They are injecting Nintendo’s silence with premade warranty of false hope.
Pink blob game issued a free code. You only need to be glad about the complimentary rewards. There isn’t a single shred of information about the Switch 2 mystery, and thus there is no need to figure it out in the twitter replies. Just enjoy the game. I would guess Kirby is glad you’re doing just that. He doesn’t know about GPU architecture; he just wants to suck things up and get funny hats.
Oh yes, just as a reminder, type STARCROSSEDWORLD in Kirby and the Forgotten Land to redeem your free item. It is most likely worth your time. And please turn a blind eye to the ongoing console war in the quote section, it is pointless. Simply relax with Kirby because life is better that way.
