Basketball fans, buckled up: the NBA 2K26 ratings are hitting the Internet just like Steph Curry hitting a half-court, textbook limit of three-pointer. Next week, 2K will drop the new player ratings, and the answers? Pure bedlam. Players are out and about with so much thinly-veiled almost-unextricable insults thrown at old models of players on who deserves to get what rating that park updates must be completed before the release of the game. A standard 2K year.
On the official NBA 2K account, the ratings release was teased, providing no core details but simply garnished with the cryptic `👀` reaction and link attached. This was enough to goad the community into frenzy. Players were hyped and attacking the devs for the imagined rating choices. Some wonder if Bill Russell will be included in the game (Rip Legend).
The most talk-on-topic has been the rating of Russell Westbrook. Being 82 in 2K25 for now, some players say he should drop down to the seventies. “Russ should be a 76,” said @LakerTempo, while @WhoMaal replied, “For what??” The debate turned spicy in no time with statements such as: “Can’t shoot, turnover prone, believes he should start, and unemployed.” Some harsh words. But 2K Twitter is not the place for pity.
Then, the Coby White hype train rolls through. Several players are demanding higher than 90 ratings for the Bulls guard, with @AllStarLaVine bluntly stating, “Coby White better be a 90 or higher.” Meanwhile, @GhostPandaStorm mocked, “Coby White 100 OVR incoming,” which… may, just may be someone’s MyCareer dream.
But some aren’t too hung up on ratings; many replies are screaming for 2K to fix the park: “@NBA2K no one give af show park” is one of many, while @trypresident rants about how “we only care about my player news an park.” Fair enough.
Others include @DairyBirdSzn randomly accusing 2K’s Ronnie of questionable bathroom activity from 2007 (??), @MacDaddy8ones venting about “outdated player appearances,” and @GrindingJoe really cutting off the flow with “We don’t want this.” Ouch.
And the eternal question of who should be the highest-rated player. According to @hookahlukaa, “Luka should be highest rated,” to which @ndbshdhdhd obnoxiously replied, “Just make sure fluka isn’t rated higher than SGA, Tatum, AD, LeGoat, KD, Curry, or Antman.”
Bottom line? 2K26 ratings = wars, memes, and maybe a couple of busted controllers. You came either for the drama or to ball; one thing for sure, the gamer community is prepared to go to the war for pixels. Really? That is the most 2K thing to ever come up with.
Start popping and spilling over next week. Get yourself some popcorn because it is gonna be a show!
