The new-and-glorious announcement assuredly caused a split opinion of sheer excitement and frustration amongst the Monster Hunter player community. The developers also informed of the regular release of further Event Quests in Title Update 3. These quests will reward materials for crafting unique equipment and pit hunters against some seriously hard monsters, such as Seregios. And the Free Challenge Quest for Arch-Tempered Nu-Udra! Sounds like a godsend to me. Well, the responses haven’t exactly been… cordial.
What’s the big deal, if you want to know? Well, there’s just one really: It’s that Savage Omega fight. It’s splitting the community apart. One user @Shadowhunt98 captured the collective sentiments pretty well: “i feel like omega right now is just a repeat of alatreon, hard fight annoying the hell out of people until we actually get guides and people’s help to understand the mechanics of it or figure them out on our own through trial and error, then genuinely nice to fight a challenge.” The classic Monster Hunter situation: the most miserable struggle followed by the most rewarding victory.
But, man, it’s the pain-piece that’s taken away the enjoyment for now. @SyncWithThomas shared statistics: “JC MH that Omega Savage fight. Went 0–20 today.” Twenty attempts; zero vial-fills of victory! That would make anyone question their life choices. And @SyncWithThomas is not alone. @roncole91 was so much in the struggle that others began to give him tips with @JustaGamerlol advising, “Try support hunters maybe, or like me try again and again with some randoms and pray that they are good 🥲, i did idk how many tries before finally beating him.” Believe the struggle.
The controversial part comes in now. This fight is not just an extra challenge for bragging rights. @nellafrevE points out another big issue, “Capcom have locked two weapons and a whole armour set behind Savage Omega (one of the items needed to craft these items comes from only Savage). I really hope they nerf the fight, OP. It isn’t fun.” So now that basically means, if you want some of that attractive new armor you HAVE to beat that insanely hard fight. No wonder the salt levels keep rising.
The mechanics are also slowly driving hunters insane. There is this particular missile attack that is just… ugh. @tanukiballsack explained the hellish scenario, “Once you get hit by one it’s very hard–sometimes impossible–to recover. I’ve seen some people call their Seikret straight away but when I do that the fucker tapdances in the aoe so I still end up dying. Best to sheathe and run.” Meanwhile, @KoalaJeruk went with the simpler perspective: “dont get hit. the attack kindly give you the pattern. if you fail to evade the first one. just stay still, dont stand. then call your seikret to make your movement easier. its really that simple.” Easy for you to say, man.
Not all are complaining about the difficulty. @ZereWasTaken argued against the nerf requests: “There’s so many tools in the game to make the fight easier including just spending more time playing to get better. Not everything that is hard needs a knee jerk nerf, that’s how the game become boring.” And @OrehCursor was pretty chill about it: “Same, job and other hobbies. But i’m okay with taking this L. I’m old. i don’t really need to prove anything. I play MH for fun, not to get frustrated xD” Honestly, mood.
Anyway, other players are having bigger issues. One had server issues that made them throw their PS4 out the window. @1ShotOfDepresso: “When the event quest that fixes your servers inability to find my save file? Which in turn caused me to have to start a new one from scratch to try and gear up for omega and then Gogmazios.” Imagine losing your save right before this update. Absolute pain.
And, of course, the typical Monster Hunter meme moments still go on. @ganjanath shared the eternal struggle of the Dual Blades: “When youre a DB user and your friends keep telling you to stop playing with your meat.” Some things never change in the hunting community.
Beyond the Omega madness and controversy, players are already looking toward what comes next. @MH_Oldhunter just wants to hear about Wilds additions: “Can we get malfestio and quropeco in wilds?đź‘€ these twos unique mechanics would definitely be amazing in modern MH especially considering malfestios confusion can be used to do more and quropecos buffs and monster calls for better support for it.” Meanwhile, @draco_1400 did him/ herself one better with a simpler request: “PLEASE BRING BACK THE EXTREME BUFF BODY ARMOR.” Priorities.
So where does all this straight out leave us? Monster Hunter’s latest update is delivering exactly what the series is known for: new content so spectacular that players get thrown into the deep end. At this very moment, the Savage Omega fight must be a fitting candidate to inspire beaucoup irritations, but give it another week or two, and there will be no thought left un-thought, a strategy for every move, and pointer beams of Omega gear on everybody. Until then? Stick to Seregios hunting. Your sanity will thank you. The cycle once again; pain, practise, perfection. The last crystal in the box is Monster Hunter, and we’d never want to change that.
