Capcom rolled out yet another new armor set for all the Monster Hunters and, well, the reactions are…a clear go from one extreme to the other. New Uth Duna γ hunter armor and Felyne Uth Duna γ Palico armor can be earned by defeating the arch-tempered apex of Scarlet Forest. Good luck with that!
The official Monster Hunter Twitter released the announcement. Some of the players seem to be quite excited, while others are calling the new gear lazy. The comment sections are downright war zones. “That is a lazy color palette swap compared to the original designs in Monster Hunter World. Oof,” one player, VandalHeart383, chimed in right away. Then DrGamerDeed said, “This looks so dope,” so…mixed bag, folks.
Although some players didn’t even know this was dropping now. Simp King Ken (yes, that’s really his username) answered, “Wait it’s out? I thought it came out next week.” Classic Monster Hunter moment—no one actually knows what’s going on until it actually happens.
Then again, it comes with the question of, “Is it worth the armor?” SundayKnight leaked some specs in the reply, announcing that the gamma set has Peak Performance 5, Earplugs 3, Tool Specialist 5, and Agitator 2. But he also said it’s “mid,” which is, in gamer slang, just alright. Not great, not horrible, just there.
Getting the glamour, though, that’s where I predict the real struggle to be. Valeria Blackheart (“back on my bullshit,” according to her bio) said, “Finally. A reason to bump up my numbers on the worst apex.” Perfect; this means if you hated fighting this guy before, strap yourself in because it’s gonna get way worse.
There was also Palico gear, with some arguing that it isn’t any different at all, just a good excuse to reskin.” Dakota Power claims it is “slightly different because of the power difference between AT and Temp,” yet Ethan wasn’t having any of that. Classic Monster Hunter talk-half the players theorize while the other half scream into the void.
And then, oh, side ramblings. Some person by the name BigSisFranziska just drops, “Rondine and Minoto are dating.” Of course, someone else answers, “Aight i see this get spam all the time wth is the context behind this lol.” No one ever answers. Chaos.
Now, somehow, the PC-versus-console thing got its ugly head poked in there within the replies (because, of course). SirKibble and Chadlynn97 grew heated over optimizations before Chadlynn ultimately dipped out with a sly, “have fun damaging PC players’ reputation later 😁✌🏻.” Meanwhile, ixwho99928 bragged about his $1300 PC rig while saying he’d never dip below 120fps. Cool story, bro.
It’s all great and everything if you hate it or if you love it; Uth Duna γ armor is here today, and it has to be grinded for. Or not. No one’s putting a gun to your head for it. But if you are one of the completionists (Nugtalis The Completionist, this is for you), you’ll gut it through anyway.
So, grab your weapon of choice, pray to RNG, and get hunting. Or don’t. Either way, the Monster Hunter community will be arguing about this for the next three weeks.
