Monster Hunter Wild players, brace yourselves: A huge update got revealed in the latest Director’s Letter from Tokuda, the director. There is simply SO much to say about it. Layered weapons, hammer upgrades, and even a brand-new reward system – Capcom is seriously cooking up some massive changes for title update 2 (TU2).
First things first – layered weapons, in true Monster Hunter Wilds fashion. Yes, layered weapons. This request has been going on for years, and I mean finally the wait will come to an end. No more ugly weapon designs just because they have the best stats. Fashion hunters, let’s dance! One user, @GarbageGrove253, summed it up perfectly: “Layered weapons were the one thing I wanted more than anything else. Can’t wait.” I, too, can say that.
And of course, hammers will get some love. Or, in other words, through the update are promised “hammer improvements,” although the details are still somewhat vague. People are joking already: @Acid_Tripp3r said, “Hammer of improvements lmao.” I mean, any buffs are good for bonk mains. Honestly, the hammer has deserved a buff ever since years were spent being the unsung kings of KO damage.
Now tempered monsters will go out for those who love the challenge, and they will not just be any tempered monsters – they are 8-stars ones. Harder versions of monsters you are already struggling with. Some people like @JoshAnimator want to express their disappointment: “just tempered and arch tempered monsters? No new monsters. Lame.” Then, however, there are those that embrace that added trouble.
There will be a new reward system introduced in one of the updates. No specifics given as of yet, but any knowledgeable Monster Hunter veteran will hazard a guess that it means plenty of rewards for taking down those top-level monsters.
And, also, some folks oppose the balance changes, especially for ranged weapons. @WaifuConoiseur went on the offensive: “Did……did yall really just nerf pierce and elemental ammo on LBG/HBG, and then increased the damage of spread as a way to ‘balance’ the nerfs?” Oof.
Then, the usual back and forth unfold in the replies – hardcore gamers debating a tempered monster as lazy content or fun challenge, some are calling for quality-of-life improvements like the hunter loader system from Sunbreak, and of course, the decided meme posts.
So in support of the title updates, Monster Hunter Wilds just got so much more interesting. For fashion, for challenge, or maybe just to bonk some monsters on the head, there is something here for everybody to look forward to. Now, the million-dollar question: How long till TU2? This is torturing us already.
In the meantime, check out the Director’s Letter in its entirety, for every minute detail will keep you on the hunt. Happy hunting, folks – gotta be an A hit and few beds.
