An explosive piece of news has been sent out to Monster Hunter Wilds players in the hands of Capcom. A Letter from the Director and the full patch notes for Ver.1.021, coming on August 13, will hit them tomorrow evening. I tell you, this update’s got some real big guns to it. Expanded endgame content? Weapon balancing? YEAH, these hunters are really gonna be fed well.
What in the world even is this Director’s Letter, I wonder? It’s basically just Capcom at the end of the day, walking the players through what’s NEXT. Think about it as a State of Play for Monster Hunter ‘nerds’ (in the best way possible). And the times they keep referencing “expanded endgame,” really got the community on the edge. Some, like PButterGaming, are already joking about getting “slapped around” in Master Rank, and others, like TacosdeKirin, aren’t so thrilled, opining that Wilds is “soulless” compared to World. Oof.
Weapon balance is one of those topics that are up for discussion, and the community is… well, interesting. Qbone insists on wanting Switch Axe buffs, whereas Cheelor screams “ADD AN ELDER DRAGON” into the void. Meanwhile, Hobby-Genki dropped a cryptic HBG tease along with a gif of… something. Ominous or hopeful? I have no idea, but now I’m curious.
There is also a fair share of disagreement. Technical problems have come forth, with ZRated_ and tanukiballsack debating the engine constraints and optimization. Skellybro is after better reconnect features (same). And how can we forget about the one and only LitePlays who’s still “on day 36 of asking for a Hatsune Miku collab.” Do not ever change, internet.
So, what now? Patches are hitting the strata on August 13th, and I’d wager my bottom dollar on ReallyAnso dissecting every single tweak. Will the endgame expansion live up to its promise? Will heavy gunner mains finally bask in limelight? And more importantly… WILL MIKU SHOW UP?
