Hey, hunters. The next seasonal event of Monster Hunter Wilds has just been detailed by Capcom and it looks like the main game will finally get a proper send-off. The Festival of Accord: Lumenhymn is going to be held this winter starting on Friday, December 19, and it will be active until January 14. The event not only brings new cosmetics but also introduces special equipment and even some unbelievably cute Palico gear that has gone viral already.
So, is it time to open the loot box? There has been no better way to announce it than the official tweet of the Monster Hunter account, which has uncovered everything. Besides the usual highlight of special armor sets and equipment, there will be the handling of the NPCs as the Smithy and the Handler will get clothes for the new year. And to add to this, Nadia has come out as a Support Hunter which is a great thing for those who do not mind a little backup. The Wudwud Barrel Bombs are indeed a new explosive toy to play with, but what really steals the show? The Baby Seikret Palico outfits. Really, that’s just too cute!
However, the most significant gossip is to be found in the comments. A player named Erwin or @Momo_Kawashima5 has asked in a rather straightforward manner whether this is the last major update for the game and mentioned DLC expansions along with the Master Rank content. That is really the burning question everybody is asking. Are we going to have to wait for the big expansion before Wilds goes dark?
Another user, @TheRealTruckKun, remarked, “The last festival we made it lads 2 more hunts then hopefully the expansion,” which pretty much confirmed the vibe. The player community is totally viewing this as the last seasonal celebration before the next big chapter with a massive cast. User @NvteTheGrevt2 even jumped into that discussion claiming it was the last for the base game and an expansion was forthcoming but it might be a long wait because “the devs had to do so much course correcting from the horrid performance.” Ouch! That takes us to the other, much humdrum conversation that is currently going on.
The comments section is really like a battleground on its own. It has been a mixture of baby Seikrets and festivities. However, on the flip side, a significant amount of the comments are still occupied by the performance issues that players are crying about. User @MrYOSHI98x tweeted in response to the main post, “Yah every dam update they keep fucking up and braking shit where’s the performance upgrade y’all promised I don’t see it anywhere.” Another guy, @imabig_dreamer, pressed the support inquiry regarding the latest patch and shared what looks like a tech support thread. This resulted in a whole series of conversations about PC issues, with @BrelfTV suggesting rolling back AMD drivers.
And then it quickly escalated into a console war skirmish! @InfoMacy told the PC crowd just to buy a console, asserting that he has had no issues in 100+ hours on Xbox. That was met with a counter statement from users like @kaitanaroyr1 and @MrYOSHI98x (again) who said the game still has performance problems on console too, with the latter even commenting on PS5 frame rates. @Shichi_Izanagi called the “just buy a console” folks unbearable, arguing that it was optimization that is the real issue. It is pandemonium, but it does remind us of how passionate—and frustrated—some parts of the player base are.
Among all the chaos, there were a few pure, wholesome reactions. @justlimi simply said, “The baby seikret palico outfits… 🥹” and that sums up my feeling perfectly. @GreatStoryCorey referred to it as a great seasonal event. @Master0fDoodles is eager to reclaim his greatsword: “Okay I’ve had a long enough break. Time to take the greatsword out of the closet and get back on the grind baby WOOOOO!” That’s the spirit! Then there were … the specific requests. Several replies curiously mentioned a character named Akuma. It all started with @chillinskey saying “Let me layer over akuma,” followed by similar demands from @necrosslol and @MVolge4977. But then @Mr_Voodoo_J and @TechnicalBargh took the opposite side, asking “Do NOT let them layer over Akuma” and to “make akuma the only customization.” What is the deal with Akuma? Who is he? What is it that makes him such a strongly polarizing character regarding the layered armor? The world may never know.
