It certainly has been a bit of a hiatus since the major Monster Hunter changes to the late game, the ones that have caused quite a heated discussion amongst the players. Now, where does one even begin? The major additions are basically the Glowing Stones: After the completion of 9-star hunts, players are now granted these stones that transform into exclusive Appraised Talismans with randomly assigned skills. Talismans may roll for armor skills, weapon skills, and the decoration slots for either armor or weapon, should they want! So this sounds neat, right? Well, the community has had a spicy reaction to it.
First, let’s try to define what this content really is. The Glowing Stone system is a rather fancy loot box with monster hunting integrated. You grind the hardest hunts, obtain the stone, and pray to the RNG gods for a good roll. Some players are hyped about it, like the user @live_to_rot who commented, “y’all cooked so hard with this update ! can’t wait for more waves of 9 ⭐️ monsters need them asap!” Across the other spectrum were those not so happy, some of whom may have found partial expression through @ReasonableChoic: “More RNG equipment you get by fighting annoying bullshit monsters. yippee.”
Then comes the other faction telling that this is not even a meaningful expansion. “Its not really expanded tho. Its the same mosnters that have always gotten the hp/dmg bump,” said @ThunderChanter. So it is the same monsters, just with bigger numbers, and the rewards are random. Ouch. The feeling was articulated groggily by @glitch_angels: “I’ve done maybe 50 of those hunts so far and haven’t gotten any good talismans.”
The word RNG is beginning to be the only one found across the comments. @alesro500 kept going with, “They’ve also now included infamous RNGs for the competition (Charms…), making it even less motivating now.” By the opposite side, @tritochmix came with a cold shower: “Another update in the direction you’ve taken and we could rename Monster Hunter Wilds to Monster Hunter Rise 2. 😥 Why not an endgame more like World Iceborne?”
In any case, there are those who are just embracing the chaos. @Mythra___ went on to give some useful information: “hey so something on these is that they’re capable of rolling gunner and blade skills on one charm… possibly look into that in the future!” Regular Monster Hunter guys then began complaining: @yeziaphael appeared with: “Dual blades Attack = 300 – 400💔 Other weapons are over 1,000😒,” spawning a thread on weapon balance. In reply to that, @arielyako started: “Not the player. The weapon itself has very high dps with high survivability.” Let the epic Longsword versus Dual Blades war begin once more.
@VOLLDAGGL then uttered, “fix the performance.” An update would never pass without that optimization cry.
With this, what now is the final verdict? So this update is for you if you shine in grinding for random stuff. If what you were looking for had some meat behind it, then maybe next time. Either way, the hunt continues-for talismans or just to see the community roast Capcom‘s decisions.
