Yet another innocent cat post was thrown into the air, and as the ground, the people were losing it. The “Felyne-looking picture of gallantry” had the caption “there goes my hero” and was immediately met with backlash from a now-bitter crowd thirsting for real updates.

So, what’s really the crux? Simple: This is the third time this month the official account has posted some sort of feline content instead of, y’know, news about the game. Players are basically begging for new monsters, endgame contents, a patch, anything really. A perfect reply by @beexxxyV sums up the frustration: “so little content social media team has to milk this furface for 3 posts straight…whatever dev team is cooking up in TU2 better be apollo 11 type shit.” Oof.

Suddenly, the comment section came to a gridlock. PC players were flying mad over optimization issues, with @choiruddinH demanding, “Bro fix your steam performance bro,” while @NagareVinay demanded outright, “Optimise your game.” There were even complaints by @DrPlague_05 about boredom: “Give us something to do for months please! Your game too easy to grind.”

From there, the cries about something to do only go louder, but on the flip-side, hunters with a soft spot for the cat zone had nothing but praise: @FerretBomb gave kudos to the Felyne designs: “Seriously, great work on the Faux Felyne hats! Noticeable upgrade from the World ones.” Then @UnlovedEden got a tad sentimental, saying, “My cat when I’m having a hard time or an anxiety attack.”

The real drama exploded when comparisons to Monster Hunter World Iceborne started, with @DrThunderGaming absolutely going nuclear: “Game is complete shit compared to world iceborn…My 4090 says the game is dog shit too.” @RawCyberHub said he prefers Rise to the new one: “Wilds is too much like world…Rise did it right despite weak graphics.”

And performance issues became the talk of the town, with @EternalWanderAR ranting about, “Game runs like shit bro. It also looks terrible.” But then @vuiken said, “I still run fine at RTX4060…Use that motivation and stress to hit them every time.” Okay then.

There were some pretty weird theories going around, in fact. @CABV24 was sure the “my hero” mention meant a My Hero Academia collab was coming, while @Superdoomer33 just hates cats: “I’m not into games filled with furry slop.” Meanwhile, @1Nelle1myHeart was desperately longing for Prowler Mode.

@TheBeatOfPower may have won the award for the saddest comment ever: “Can we finally rematch Guardian Arkveld…There’s nothing to do.” Ouch.

With Monster Hunter Wilds releasing soon, Capcom is in quite a balancing act, trying to keep the players engaged with the current game while simultaneously hyping the next. But the replies already suggest that the community really could do with less cat posts and more meaty updates. Like yesterday.

Will the next title update do it? Or will the social media team be busy posting more cat memes while the players revolt? Only time will tell. Hunters meanwhile go on slaying the same monsters-a few changes.
