Monster Hunter fans, this is a really good opportunity for celebration: Monster Hunter Festa 2025 will be held in Paris at the Paris Games Week from October 30 to November 2. The hype is already real. Add to this a concert by the J-rock stars Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and Director Yuya Tokuda and the very first Monster Hunter Wilds Championship ever held in Europe. So, you read it right: a bonafide championship!
Quite the reactions ensued on Twitter, with comments ranging from sheer excitement to some sarcastic remarks. User @Eliseteria simply exclaimed, “So happy to see the Festa back! 🎉” Some others, like @Be4st_Within, lamented the short notice afforded them, jokingly: “Two months warning is so short. 😔 Meanwhile, @KeikoPinCosplay expressed envy: “Love to see this event come back, 5 years later and on a different continent 🤣 super envious, wish I could go!!”
The celebration, however, was short-lived as some players went on an outpouring of complaints, chiefly directed at the PC port of Monster Hunter Rise. @AhBaloul went on to say, “So…. everyone is going to pretend the PC port isn’t a terrible clusterbomb of performance issues?” This kicked off a whole thread of wrangling, where @FluffMaverick said, “They got the feedback from the open betas, had almost half a year since release and there STILL hasn’t been any CDPR-ish statements on the situation.” Crash.
A lot of fun followed the announcement, starting with a foreboding whisper: “They shall bring dung bomb… they may need it…” by @HoracioHm123, and a simple plea, “let me layer over akuma.” Classic Monster Hunter community, never ever change.
The main act was, of course, the Monster Hunter Wilds Championship. Those wondering just what that heck means (inquiries like @KJP_Plays’ “What the heck is a monster hunter championship???”) might just be on the speedrunning of monsters race to the finish lines in the shortest time. @Be4st_Within explained, “They usually set up or designate a particular arena quest. Sometimes it even is a new unique quest.” So yeah, basically hunt mad money.
Festa is a huge deal because it’s been five years since the last one, and this is its very first time staging in Europe. Events in Japan have seen a ton of demos, merch, and developer meet and greets, so expectations are through the roof. With the impending arrival of Monster Hunter Wilds (no announced date; everyone thinks it’s coming), this can be the biggest hype train ever.
With regards to traveling time, obviously, not everyone will be able to make it to Paris, and two months is awful short notice anyway. However, for anyone who can squeeze this event into their calendar, this is the must-attend event for them. There is, of course, still a hope that Capcom might stream at least some of the events or reveal something juicy about Wilds.
So mark your calendars, prepare your blades, and practice your speedrun skills because Monster Hunter Festa 2025 is going to be bonkers. For those lucky enough to go, don’t forget to carry around dung bombs. You’ll thank me one day.
