Timberwolves are headed to the Western Conference Finals, and the fans are excited—well, kind of. The official NBA 2K Twitter account celebrated the Wolves’ win with a Tweet that soon turned into a roast session, all due to Anthony Edwards’ awful face scan in-game.

The “Wolves in 5 (again)! 🐺 Minnesota is headed to its second straight Western Conference Finals!” tweet was supposed to be the crowning moment of the affair. However, the replies got filled with jokes, complaints, and absolute confusion as to why Edwards’ character model in NBA 2K looked like he was about to detect a horrendous stench.

One fan, @TBlazersWRLD, summed that feeling up perfectly: “Why y’all got Edward’s always doing some weird ass face in these pics, just makes his face scan look even weirder💀.” And honestly? Fair enough. It is one thing for the screenshot to have captured Edwards mid-grimace, looking more like a confused meme than an elite NBA-player.

Others didn’t hold back anymore. @jslime22 blatantly asked, “How do you put this out with a straight face?” as @theDayhasEnd3d marveled, “With no shame.” Even @KiraAnkari uttered an insult there, calling it “a darker Westbrook,” which is an insult!

But this wasn’t just about Edwards’ rather unfortunate digital counterpart. Some also had to air their various complaints about NBA 2K in general. @crypto2keys went off with a rant, calling this “the WORST NBA 2K I have ever seen” after playing it for 15-20 years. Biggest gripe? The one limiting you to play with the same team only once every five games in online head-to-head mode. “Whoever came up with that should be sent back to the mail room,” he added. Brutal.

Others, meanwhile, were busy worrying about basketball realities. @xqevolve boldly predicted another “Wolves in 5” against OKC, while @CodeF1am1n90 lamented, “If only we had Curry 💔.” (Probably a sentiment shared by Warriors fans at the moment.)

For some, Minnesota pulling this off seemed a little far-fetched. @idontwanttous16 wrote off their season run as “lucky” before predicting an “OKC in 5” retaliation. But hey, haters will hate.

Whereas, in the end, the Timberwolves march on; the questionable NBA 2K face scans remain, and the fans are enjoying themselves with both. Some things never change.

What’s up next, you ask? Well, more basketball, more memes, and more 2K complaints about their awful design choices, probably. For now, though, the Minnesota fans have to celebrate. The game notwithstanding.

And hey, at least they’re winning outside the game. That must really count for something.
