Strap yourself in. Fortnite has just opened its doors for another mega-collaborative venture, one that restores its legacies-Metallica. Yes, the heavy metal icons are invading the Item Shop tonight as players seemingly experience breakdowns.
So, what are in those drops? According to the tweet,
-Metallica (3x)- Probably skins, maybe even variations of just a few characters? You know Epic kind of likes to do that.
-Battle Ready (5x)- Weapon wraps or back bling, or perhaps even some emotes that match up with Metallica style in their aggressive vibes.
-Get Your Kicks (2x)- Shoes? Dances? Who knows, but Fortnite sure loves to throw in somewhat arbitrary pairs of shoes.
-Vehicle Accessories (1x)- Could be a Metallica-themed glider or Whiplash wrap?
With that much hype flowing, no one except the original ticker could keep the replies of that tweet from becoming a chaotic blend of excitement, confusion, and desperation as everybody started checking on Vbucks balances. @ceetlyn has blatantly declared their undying love for Fortnite (and thus for the leaker who came up with these spoils), while @InfamysVirtue simply said, “Peak is Back,” which more or less sums it up.
But, of course, not everyone would celebrate this. Thegrinchh32 protested for shoes recycling again (Epic, please, start mixing stuff for a while), while @mikejr99907 would sure be in great agony because he has just sold out of V-Bucks. On the flipside, @081chaz dubbed this the “PEAK SHOP OF A LIFETIME,” so split opinions remain.
And then there is the whole debate on whether these are Festival Pass skins or just regular shop items. @thatslis4u is hoping for the former while others are praying they don’t miss out. And then let us not forget the… somewhat random Kratos request from @oceanman098-because why not throw God of War in?
Yet, Metallica’s been around Fortnite a few times now. Their “For Whom The Bell Tolls” emote was first introduced, and players have been vibing to it ever since. Now, with these drops, that metal band must be smiling to the bank.
So there you have it. For any Metallica fan, it is a must-cop. If not…well, you might just want to check it out for the sheer absurdity of headbanging on the Battle Bus. Any which way, Fortnite has just proven that there’s no collab that is too wild, and we approve of that.
For now, I must check if I have any V-Bucks left from my splurging last season. Fingers crossed!
