Divulging it, Capcom has actually made a huge announcement that is a present to all Mega Man fans, and quite honestly, it’s been long overdue. The Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection has been scheduled for launch on March 27, 2026, and believe it or not, this collection will be available on all major platforms such as Switch, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Steam. It’s a sizable victory in terms of accessibility, don’t you think? You can now pre-order the game, and among other things, four extra music tracks and two cool Main Menu characters will be your rewards if you order early. Geo Stelar in casual wear and Omega-Xis are some of the characters that you’ll see. Pretty decent, huh?

Let us now move over to the announcement. We are definitely in a hype situation, but at the same time, it has created a lot of forums in the community. One of them is very serious indeed. The official tweet replies are a mixture of pure joy, confusion, and very specific demands that are very, very mixed together. It’s a whole mood.

Let’s start the positivity sharing game. The player named ‘cirno’ is very, very happy because the release date falls on his/her birthday. He/she has already proclaimed it—the birthday present is certainly the best! That is what we call positive energy. The next player ‘Viniclaus’ is already anticipatory for the music and even a little provocative when he dubs the remix of Sky Road “fire damn.” One can say the core fanbase that is actually yearning for this is quite satisfied already. It has been a long wait.

However, the negative comments are not far away at all. And these comments portray not just a small problem in the Mega Man community but a much bigger one, and their real wish is nothing less than that the Star Force be the least of their concerns.

The most urgent and the loudest issue being raised is actually the very first question regarding the physical release. A few players are directly asking, “Need a physical copy.” or “Above and beyond, I just need a physical release and we’re golden!” Capcom has not commitment thus far in that regard, and one can feel the tension. Even though digital is king these days, there still is a big crowd that prefers to have a box sitting on their shelf and they are very vocal when it comes to asking for it.

Right after that, we have the issue of the language barrier. A couple of players even ask for particular localizations they seem like they are not going to get. One of them is asking, “Please language french,” while another is hoping for German subtitles and asking why not Star Force 3 since the Apollo Justice trilogy got the treatment. It’s a valid argument. These collections are a way to open these games up to new players and a major part of this is language support.

But wait a minute, things are getting complicated. The real drama now centers on Xbox. A player called ‘John Welfare’ highlights the inconsistency: “If StarForce is coming to Xbox why didn’t Battle Network Collection?” He has all the other Mega Man, X, and Zero collections on Xbox and would like to keep his library all of a piece. The same feeling is widely shared by others as well. It is a valid question! On what basis would one support the platform for one late DS series but not for the very popular GBA series? One reply hints that it might have been sales numbers, but then goes on to say that this does not make sense given the present support. It’s a real puzzle for Xbox fans.

And then… we hit the big issue. The proverbial elephant in the room. The Legends saga.

The replies are filled up with requests for a Mega Man Legends Legacy Collection. We are talking about very passionate, all-caps, demands. “MEGAMAN LEGENDS LEGACY COLLECTION (INCLUDING MISADVENTURES OF TRON BONNE) AND MEGAMAN LEGENDS 3 NOOOOOOWWWW CAPCOMMMMM!!!!!!” one user yells. Another one just makes a very enthusiastic request, “Mega Man, please continue the Legends. 🥹.” A movement has been formed.

The post sparked a mini-debate in the comments about the fans’ legitimacy. One user argued that it’s the time for Star Force to shine and that the Legends crowd should wait and “ask at the right time and place.” The other one countered very well by saying, “I think not, both sets of fans can equally want new games/collections… Let everyone have fun.” That’s really wise advice. The excitement of Star Force is authentic but the desire for Legends is a profound and age-old wound that this announcement has only prodded again.

There is even a funny and random exchange in which one user describes the game “Parece ser chato,” which in Portuguese means “Seems boring,” while another user expresses excitement for the PlayStation release.
