A new summer skin was released for Marvel Rivals, leaving players in a state of complete disarray. Some are hyped, some irritated, and others are genuinely confused. The official Marvel Rivals Twitter account tweeted, “Anyone else like this rn?” with a link to the skin. Needless to say, the comment section is quite something.
The classic divide: those who purchased it right away, and those who would never pay for it. Like Julie Ryff, who said she took it in the first minutes. KennySmash_ was just glad the Thor skin was free because, honestly, no one wants to pay for something that could have been given away as a reward. HotRocks215 went so far as to say that he doesn’t even want the skin anymore, now that “the whole world has it.” Talk about exclusivity issues.
The real fight is about the price tag. FeralForlorn hits it right: “All I want is that skin but I don’t wanna pay 10 bucks for it TT_TT.” And that was answered by ItzJoxxy_: “It’s 15 dollars. And like 120 games…… Get a job & buy it.” That was harsh.
And then there’s the debate on the weirdness of playing as a woman. Count Za 🧛🏻♂️ tried to pour fuel on the fire with “Don’t you guys think it’s kind of weird that a bunch of men wanna play as a female chick?”, and the chaos promptly ensued. I_hateEnglish clapped back with, “Someone is gay 😂 Mans like to see woman’s,” while candycougar just questioned if it was his first time playing a video game. Spoiler: it likely was.
Some players are loving the skin but have issues with it. Jirehn_IsJirehn made the point that the summer skin doesn’t really fit with the current maps and suggested—a beach map. Genius level.
Some players just won’t buy it. Felipe said he didn’t because he doesn’t want to support price hikes on combat chests but concedes that he thinks very few others will boycott. Roberto made it at least to the last six tiers before finally giving in and buying the rest. Real struggle.
Marvel Rivals players, at the end of the day, are nothing if not passionate. Whether they’re debating the merits of a character choice or wishing they could flex their willpower for just two seconds, one thing’s for sure: this skin has everyone talking. Honestly? Exactly what the devs wanted. Now if only that beach map actually comes through…
