Now this rage is divided. Some accuse laziness at the developers; others are demanding MVP screens. Another day dawns on the Marvel Rivals community, where hype mingles with chaos as two superheroes slap-fight in midair.
First is the skin: truly fire. It is a beautiful amalgamation of the fiery wrath of the Phoenix Force and the sleek, deadly energy of Black Panther. The official tweet gave it the big build-up: “When the Phoenix sinks its talons into all that stands before it, it bestows great power. But what can that power do when it meets the ancient force of the Black Panther?” That hype just makes you want to toss your credit card down onto your phone. July 31 at 7 PM PDT: Mark that date if flaming panther energy speaks to your heart.
Enter the drama. The playerbase is divided into casuals blindly throwing cash (or some of them are): commentary following Marvel Rivals‘ announcement is a cocktail of anticipation, disappointment, and outlandish fury. Dusting off caps lock for a rant, @RochaEmmah said: “No way, there’s no freaking way, I was so excited for this skin man, YOU EVEN ANNOUNCED IT ON THE ROAD MAP AND IT DOESN’T EVEN HAVE AN MVP??? lazy work.” Really hits the spot over there.
The main gripe is probably the lack of the MVP Screen. Multiple players pick on the devs, thinking that it is bare-minimum feature to have with any premium skin whatsoever. @ultramandaigo summarized the situation sarcastically: “2 weeks, 6 purple skins, 5 without MVP. You guess it.” Valk meanwhile keeps it simple: “No MVP… Again.” Players want more sparkle to their dollar when they buy fancy cosmetics.
Then they had a round of visual clutter discussion. Some players like @_SaltyManChild_ insisted that skins should change ability effects, preferably Black Panther’s ultimate to red instead of purple-but-only client-side so teammates won’t get confused (sounds reasonable). Others were arguing for color changes, like @sagentropy: “Just change the colors for the effects lol please.” This is a good argument: if you’re making sale pitches for a flaming panther skin, then you better invest in all-out flaming visuals.
Well, to be fair, there are those that condemn all complaints. @_BEZMON_ hailed: “No matter what the community says, I still think you guys deserve an award in the World Guinness book of records for the most consistent content released for a game since launch.” And @Gleepglorpinit kept it simple: “It’s all over the screen :)” – a comment we choose to interpret as enthusiastic rather than a complaint of overload.
Then, not to forget the weirdos. @BLEACHC00KIES slash the devs’ guts with a prophecy: “How funny would it be if they add in the best panther skin in the same patch that they butcher him?” On the other hand, the Spanish fury was unleashed by @alons0gt, who said: “Váyanse a la verga en lugar de andar viendo personajes deberían estar arreglando el Cochinero dé matchmaking.” (Translation: “Go to hell, instead of looking at characters, you should be fixing the matchmaking mess.”) Harsh? Maybe. But you can’t deny the passion.
Phoenix Panther is untouchably cool; yet the players want more: MVP screens and effects, and maybe fewer bugs in the game altogether-will Marvel Rivals hear them? Time, together with patch notes, will say. However, if you dig the skin on fiery vibes and can pass on the MVP bragging rights, it’s definitely a worthy purchase for you. But beware: The entire community might just not back you on this.
