Lunchtime on the 13th through the 20th, the cosmetics with a current status of “Returning,” comprises some fine looks, exclusively for those early players from before, rending hatreds.

The official account for Marvel Rivals put out a tweet, teasing some bundles with the caption “Return to Earth-616,” which references the main universe of Marvel Comics. These include the highly requested skins: classic Cap and slick Magik, among a few, but some complain anyway. The issue being that the cosmetics were given in association with participation in the alpha and beta phases, therefore granting those that worn such cosmetics status of rarity… before.

One player, @sensei80379949, could no longer contain his excitement and exclaimed, “YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS. CAP SKIN FINALLYYYYY,” while the emojis punctuated his exclamation. Some players did feel there would be chaos, with @ThatRevenantGuy jotting, “The Beta players are gonna be PISSED ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚.” And yes, he was on point.

In the replies, the debate concerning exclusivity raged on. @RomanceFGC stated they might just quit if Scarlet Witch’s alpha skin ever came back, as in their words, “waited too many damn hours for a code to just give ts out.” Meanwhile, @Catalan_Goku responded to someone frustrated with, “Itโ€™s a virtual skin pal itโ€™s not that deep.”

Many other players defending the change then go on to argue with people like @dogedanny1 that bringing back old skins from time to time will ensure that the new players finally get a chance to get what they missed before. “They make plenty of money off of 1 skin they aren’t dead,” they said on Twitter, throwing away accusations that devs only ever recycle content. Conversely, @spookiizies is just happy to get Winter Rocket again and bemoan the lack of cross-platform progression.

There will be skins, however, that are excluded from the returns. @IOtsuki keeps Venom’s cyan colored skin as an exclusive, granted for beta participation. And about the far rarer White Witch Wanda skin from the closed alpha? @yodagroguu affirms it’s out of the rotation, much to either the chagrin of relief of some collectors.

Again, timing displeases some. “Why wouldnt you just wait until x-mas to release the skins again?” questions @TimmThompso as others like @itsjusthusss plead for the Wanda beta skin to join the rotation.

One thing’s for sure: Marvel Rivals knows how to make its players talk. Bundles are selling out fast, either because players are hyped about finally snatching the Cap skin or are salty about losing their bragging rights. So, if you have been waiting for another chance at these cosmetics, this is it.

One thing never bargained: gameplay balance. Wait, what I was saying? Oh right-skins!
