An update arrives for Marvel Rivals on August 14 at 9 AM UTC, with none of those awkward outages. Just a client update, and back you go into superherodramatics. The devs put key information in images because, really, who bothers with piles upon piles of text? Patch notes exist, though, for those truly hardcore. Regardless, while the update sounds smooth, player reactions tell a very different story.
First off, the patch notes failed to address some or most of the bigger issues from the community. Buffs are the call; Jeff mains are particularly distraught, Black Widow stans crave some acknowledgment, and Rocket Raccoon damage dealers want madness (because, really, and I quote, “that would be hilarious”). While seemingly ignoring all fixes to Blade’s life steal, which many swear is bugged, some comments are hilarious: “Damn not fixing Blade’s lifesteal so it’s really not a bug then. That’s fing awful.” Ouch.”
Another sore point is matchmaking. Platinum players being thrown into Grandmaster lobbies? Rage quits, for sure. “There’s no reason Plat players should be going up against GM+ lobbies,” one frustrated gamer said. They better keep quiet about ranked team-up modes—or lack thereof. The current cap on party sizes has friends boiling. “Let us play with our group of friends in rank? Why cater to the toxic players that have no friends??? It’s bullshit,” went the rant. Some demanded outright, “Give us QUAD stack back!!!!!!!”
There are then peculiar factors; there’s the newly arrived map sound issues, Iron Fist stealth-nerfs, and Emma Frost bugs still disrupting the fights. Some players felt the devs were trolling them: “Guess they’re busy buffing everything except player patience,” mocked another.
But hey, not all is sausage. For a few, the emote tied to skins is a legit cause for celebration. “Thanks, very good,” popped up in the comments (Bless his heart).
So what now? The patch is coming, ready or not. Whether it soothes the storm or fuels the fire is anybody’s guess. But one thing is very clear. Marvel Rivals players shout their demands loud and clear. And if the devs stay deaf in their ears, a “rage management” section may need to find itself among the next patch notes.
So, now: prepare yourself! Set your date, install the patch, and get ready, for superhero drama is now spilling beyond comics.
