The LEGO mode announcement has caused a massive stir in the Fortnite community. Epic Games has officially announced that the Ninjago realm will be incorporated into the storyline of LEGO Fortnite Odyssey, which will consist of a brand new two-part narrative. Additionally, there will be a significant influx of cosmetics in the Item Shop when the new items launch on December 11th at 7 PM ET. This will include skins for Jay, Cole, and Zane, each of them sporting their LEGO Style variants, along with backblings, pickaxes, and emotes. It will be an elemental masters’ invasion.
To put it in brief: Ninjago’s plot twist is coming to the LEGO Fortnite mode and on the 11th of December, a three-character cosmetic bundle will be out in the Item Shop. Players are eager to get dressed as their favorite characters but are already expressing concerns about the hefty V-Bucks cost.
The main feeling was excitement but at the same time players had that old Fortnite worry about their wallets. The official tweet from the Fortnite team initiated everything and the replies were a mix of different feelings such as joy, bewilderment, and price speculations.
The first thing is that the users are very happy indeed. A user named Natalie G said directly that she is ‘picking up that bundle immediately,’ which reflects the general opinion in the community. Yana went as far as to call the update ‘fantastic,’ and anyone who is even slightly related to those spinjitzu masters can feel the nostalgia in the air. However, the opposite side of the coin is here too. The panic. The question that is bound to arise after every Fortnite bundle reveal: how many V-Bucks will I have to spend to get it?
The user artsgui stated the thing very clearly when he said, ‘It’s gonna be 4k vbucks isn’t it 😭’. The crying emoji that he used can be taken as a thousand words. This is the community’s united groan that accompanies the front of, ‘we have seen these big triple-character bundles before’. onyx⋆˙ asked, ‘please do not make it a 3,300+ bundles 🥹’. Tvift, on the other hand, took it in a more… masochistic way, pleading, ‘pleasss be 4,000 V-bucks’. It seems like they are already resigned to their fate, so why not go all in, right?
However, the frantic replies were not only about the money but also about the ninjas themselves. One of the main issues? Where’s Lloyd? DOBDTheDemon1 was shouting as if he was in all caps: ‘LLOYD DESERVES A SKIN THEY TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT GETTING HIM A SKIN’. This opened a mini-thread of confusion. Mohamed Masry and Lean both say that Lloyd is indeed coming but later, in a ‘wave 2’ along with Nya and Master Wu. But DOBDTheDemon1 was not up for the wait, he posted a gif that simply stated ‘nope, not waiting’. To which another user, speedor, sardonically asked if they were going to break into Epic HQ to release it before the due time. What a drama!
In addition to that, some players are confused about what they are getting with the pass and what they can get in the shop. User IronSpider 175 was wondering if Kai’s gear was in the LEGO pass, and Nipny was asking how to get Kai’s pickaxe, backbling, and emote. This suggests that maybe not everything is in this first bundle, or that items are divided among different parts of the update. And user CobaltKnight26 was inquiring about jam tracks, which, fair, because Fortnite Festival is a thing now too. But no, this seems to be centered around the LEGO Odyssey and Item Shop attractions.
A funny little mix-up happened as well. MRZevrything confessed, ‘Bro I thought they put J Cole in Fortnite 😭’. Which, to be honest, with the current pace and trend of collab characters in Fortnite, would not even be that astonishing anymore. But, no it’s Cole the earth ninja, not the hip hop artist. However, an emote having a cake for Cole— as suggested by Xihok would certainly be a blockbuster.
Moreover, the timing gave rise to a small international headache. User Cal (H7NTRESS) was very grateful to another user for clarifying the stream time because they are in Europe and were unable to work it out. It serves as a reminder that for a global game, these ET announcements can be really confusing for everyone else.
So what’s the conclusion? Epic is heavily relying on the LEGO Fortnite universe and the Ninjago crossover is a very smart move. It very much fits. The players want it and they are willing to pay—but at the same time, the community’s reaction highlights the ongoing tension between excitement for new content and concerns over pricing on platforms like PlayStation and Xbox.
