Warhorse Studios has just launched the definitive edition of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, and the gaming community is already deeply involved in the whole medieval universe. The Royal Edition consists of the three biggest expansions of the story, new quests, and exceptional in-game items merged into one package, thereby finally offering players everything they need for the KCD2 adventure to the fullest.
Isn’t it the Royal Edition that consists of? In case you have been waiting for the whole packag, then this is it! All the story content, additional side quests, and some unique equipment that are not available anywhere else—that was released after the game’s launch. This is more than a way to enjoy Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 if you haven’t started or if you are going to come back to the game with all the new items.
Community has not the very same reaction. Some players rejoice in the game release, calling it “Game of the Year,” and expressing their joy that now, everything is in one place, but on the contrary, others are somewhat disappointed with certain aspects of the release.

The players seem to be saying in the comments that if you pre-ordered the Gold Edition on Steam, you are automatically getting all the Royal Edition content. As a matter of fact, this is really cool- you will not have to buy everything again if you were among the early supporters of the game.
However, the pricing issue has made a lot of people unhappy. One player said that he missed a 40% discount sale on Steam and now has to wait another year, while another player called the price of the original Gold Edition “a rip-off” and criticized the DLC “3 lame short side quests” which should have been included in the main game. Ouch!
The combat system also garnered some criticisms, with one user labeling it “very easy” and calling KCD2 “an absolutely boring comic book”- though this seems to be the case of the few compared to the overall positive rating.
On the contrary, some gamers are already building their next wish lists. There are requests for a KCD1 remaster or a native PS5 version along with an inquiry regarding if Ludolf’s armor will become available in the game. And, of course, the question that is becoming inevitable, “PSVR2 port WHEN??”, follows every major release nowadays.
The release pattern is becoming the norm for big games – launch the base game, then over the following months, the DLC is released, and finally, the whole thing is taken back and sold as a definitive edition. From a business standpoint, this is a brilliant move, but at times it creates a feeling among early adopters that they have paid more for the same, while the latecomers have got the complete experience at a better price.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is one of the games that has successfully set itself apart from the crowd of RPGs. It is not a standard fantasy adventure with dragons and magic; it is a harsh, realistic, and surprisingly immersive depiction of medieval life. The attention to detail is the main factor that distinguishes the game from others, from the combat system which really demands having some skills to the caring of one’s weapons, eating and sleeping regularly.
For the newcomers, the Royal Edition is the most excellent way possible to have a try of all the game features without having to buy the different parts. If you are one of the existing players who have turned a blind eye to the DLC, now is the right time to find out what you have missed.

Nonetheless, it is not going to be sold on a physical disc anytime soon, apparently. Unless Warhorse changes their mind based on all the feedback they are getting from the community. Who knows, maybe they will do it. The developers have previously demonstrated that they are attentive to their gamers, so perhaps the demands for physical editions will not be in vain.
